    NPIP certification in WA

I will certainly need to ask about the AI for Oregon sales. I don't have expensive birds but am quite attached and certainly have favorites. Not to mention what an expense to build back up. Bourbon Red Turkeys and an eclectic flock of chickens.

    NPIP certification in WA

I live right on the border of WA and OR (Wa side). It is difficult to be limited where we can sell our birds. I contacted WSDA about my interest in becoming certified. They sent me an application and some info but it was very vague. All I got out of the info packet was we can only purchase other...

    better with age?

I am curious to the flavor as well. I purchased 15 from a hatchery last year. My intent was 2 hens for my tom and process the rest for sale at thanksgiving. They weren't even close at thanksgiving and all 15 + the 2 free are happy and healthy. Having no luck selling them off now. They will be...

    Seeking Blue Langshan

I am looking for a few blue langshans. We are in Washington state and ideally would prefer driving distance to pick up. Interested in either eggs, chicks, or adults. Not all 3. We just want a few of this breed and are game for whatever stage in life they are at.

    Slow crop is now doughy

Update. Miss Sykes has been returned to the flock. Been with them about 2 weeks now. She seems to be o.k. The other birds don't seem to be picking on her, but she is not very social with the group. I took her bra off yesterday hopefully her crop is empty today so I can leave it off.

    Turkey pricing?

Your correct R2elk. I shouldn't have gotten so emotional about it. I did restrain myself and did simply respond No. I checked what other folks had thiers for and it was about the same as mine. Happily today I have a buyer for a Jake who is extremely elated I have some to choose. That is the kind...

    Turkey pricing?

That's what I thought too. I figured i was leaving a little wiggle room for dickering. This guy wanted to buy my entire lot. Which I felt really wierd about. I know turkeys are food and I'm ok with that. I felt like there was a dark side to this guys motives. Not mom and pop looking for...

    Lonely turkey?

Maybe she just needs more time to mourn her friend. I've heard of birds that are truly sad over the lose of a flock buddy.

    Turkey pricing?

What is a reasonable price to ask for bourbon reds 9mths old? I listed them on Craigslist at $55 for jakes and $65 for jennys. I felt that was around what everyone else was asking, and know I have way more invested. 1 guy contacted me wanting my entire lot at $30 a bird. Needless to say I was...

Sad sick rooster, cull or cure?

I've had him inside since new years. Been feeding him by syringe about 60 ml of baby rice cereal and ground up layer twice a day. With nutri drench and probiotic. Leave a bowl of dry food n water by him in hopes he will eat on his own. Today he passed away during his breakfast. It was awful. I...

Sad sick rooster, cull or cure?

I have a 1 1/2 yr old Lakenvelder rooster(Bruce Lee), believe me he earned the name. He's been off his game since Christmas eve. He seemed depressed. Off by himself and not even remotely interested in kicking my a**. I brought him inside and gave him a thorough look over. Didn't find anything...

    Slow crop is now doughy

The vet had me put her back on medicated starter feed, continue with probiotics and worm her. His concerns were Coccidiosis. When I got home from work late last night it seems nothing was moving thru. Though she only had the doughy crop the day before, I figure nothing to loose. I mixed up the...

    Slow crop is now doughy

I'm still fairly new at this. I am curious about the molasses flush. What exactly is this and what instances might this be used. It's always good to know different angles to solving issues.
