    Swollen Abdomen and Lethargic

Hi guys, my hen has a swollen abdomen/drooping tail with some occasional laboured breathing. She’s been like this for a day or so, I don’t really want to take her to the vets as I have several past experiences with extremely high costs due to ill chickens. Any suggestions of what it could be...

Hello! That's such a shame, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure you did all you could. It definitely seems as if the worst of it has passed, here's hoping we have some nice spring weather for the girls to enjoy!! X

Is anyone locking down for Avian flu?

Sorry it took so long to reply, I've been caught up in quite a lot lately. It seems you have everything nicely together :-) You're probably right not to worry, I think as long as we're really careful we'll avoid it. I've built an extension of their run outside to give them a bit more space so...

NOO!! That sound awful, especially after all the work you put into it :-( I'm doing not too bad, I've extended their outside run (with tarp over it) so hopefully they're not as bored. I think I'll construct them a dust bath tomorrow. I have a feeling they'll extend the lockdown into March if...

Is anyone locking down for Avian flu?

I know it's easier said than done but try not to panic, just be extra vigilant and alert. As long as your birds have zero contact with wild birds and you have good biosecurity (which I'm sure you do) you can take comfort in that you're doing all you can.

Is anyone locking down for Avian flu?

That's good you're getting good use out of it, I would really like one but I'd only be getting it to use until this thing is over because I don't think my garden is quite big enough to accommodate it year round!! :-)
