Her leg is fine, healed nicely. But she's still is broody all healed up and she doesn't produce eggs and is trying to kill my chicks. Wife wants to send her to freezer camp.
Don't know if this is normal coloring for bruising on a chicken... I will let it air out over night and take new photos tomorrow. The swelling is almost completely gone. She lays in nesting box all day. S by know if I should make her stay out or let her rest.
Grit? They get grit and my backyard is full of small pebbles. But I will lay out smore. Lately they haven't been fighting. I gave them some new bug eating space. And one of my hens (which is has gone broody) is recovering from an injury and always in the nesting box.
Still bleeding, no. We left Friday morning and came back Sunday morning and saw it. I have her in a separate cage now. She was limping when we got home. We cleaned it up some. We are going to get gauze and ointment. But I do know if I should try to pop the bubble. As far as pain... She let us...
Thanks for the advice. No I can't have a roo. Space is small but but I let them out a few hours 2 or 3 times a day. She is not a meat breed. She is boney. She is my only green egg layer and my wife's favorite. I will try separating her. If she must go, I with try out my first harvest. But I...
My Ameraucana, Feather is at the top of pecking order. She pecks and tries to pull off feathers from my Buff Orpington, Chicka constantly who WAS her challenger. By the way it looks Chicka does not challenge her anymore.
Feather breaks her eggs. I use to think she would just be impatient...
I'm thinking this maybe related.

Dragg 80... Thanks.
Thank you everyone. The move to put them together was an emergency. I had them in the house but my dog wouldn't leave them alone and an unrelated incident destroyed their makeshift broody box. It was the middle of the week and too late in the day to build. Their relocation...
Yes the hens can see them. I have a small fenced in dirt bath that is attached to the coop over run. I closed it off. The one that died was small enough to fit thru a part I didn't notice was big enough for her to fit.
Thank you everyone for your condolences. It is a reality check. I thought I had sweet chickens. I was willing to accept my chickens rejecting the chicks till older. But to kill and eat a chick... They are predators and a source of food.
My 6 chickens had names, but I think I'm going unname them and stop naming my future chickens. They just did the unthinkable to a Cream Brabanter chick.
BR: Betty
Ameraucana: Feather
Light Brahma: Legs
2 Black Australorps: Thing 1 & Thing 2
Buff Orpington: Chicka
And 11 chicks that won't be...
I've read about chicken beating up chicks, and killing other full grown chickens, but I've never read or heard about them eating another bird especially a chicken.. I'm shocked and upset. She was one of 2 Cream Bratanter. I believe the other to be a roo. So I won't have that breed to raise...
Why would they do that? I bought 12 baby chicks and they have all been around hens for a week. The hens really don't bother them. They are 4 weeks old now. I have them separated. One chick is an escape artists got into the hens area. I dont know which chicken did it. Maybe all but the chick was...
