So the pullet at the back looks like a Welsummer to me, the pullet in front is possibly a Rhodes island red? I don't see leghorn because of leg colour and comb size but I could very well be wrong. Do you have any pictures of the Rooster standing up? He is very handsome.
If they were true Ayam Cemani you would be paying a fair amount of money for them. They are absolute cuties though! I had 2 mystery chicks and not knowing what they were was so infuriating so I feel your pain. Update the thread in a week or two and let me have another guess! It would be...
They are a bit young right now, if you wait until they feather out a little more then you will get a more reliable indicator of breed and gender. Where did you get the chicks from? It looks almost like the two black chicks are Ayam Cemani chicks if they are all black including skin, comb, beak...
Barred Rocks tend to have yellow legs, they look more like Cuckoo Marans to me. Thats a weird mix up though because Barred chicks and Silver Laced Wyandotte chicks look totally different. How old are they?
My runners look like yours but a bit more upright. Mine only really walk straight upright when they are running for treats or showing off their wingspan. Mine are only 10 weeks old though so they could straighten out with age. She looks beautiful though! I have a blue, and a fawn and white. They...
Based on those pictures I would say she is an Easter Egger. The puffy neck gives it away! They are a very popular breed, basically a mixture of various breeds that lays coloured eggs. You will find plenty of info on here about them. They are common in farm shops so that's another clue.
You might just need to wait until the chick is older and more colour/breed features come out. Also pictures of the Chick standing on its own so you can see the whole chick would be more helpful in identifying the breed.
Oh my gosh, is spangling the word for the little white tips? Thats adorable! I will probably keep this thread updated with pictures over the next month or so once I get more sure. Im like 100% buff brahma and 90% sure about speckled sussex. Everyone has been so helpful!
Oh thats amazing news! Was the tail for your SS slow to come in too? I keep seeing that some people have found that even girls dont develop tails very quickly.
I was told all three chicks were Partiridge Rocks, I think the one that passed was indeed a PR but the two that I have now look too different. I'm pleased to hear the Buff Brahma is indeed that, she is really sweet and I named her Bridget after the Saint. The little chick is the most mysterious...
Ok, I've taken some updated pics. Unfortunately the smaller chick passed away later that day, our Chicken lady offered to give us a replacement chick because it had only been 2 days since we got her. So now they will be about 4/5 weeks old according to her. I think that the bigger one is a buff...
Hi! I am leaning strongly towards girl becuase of how dark she is and the lack of a comb. I got 2 Male Cuckoo marans out of 5 this year unfortunately and they were both much lighter than the hens and started to get their wattles and a much redder comb around 6/7 weeks. The light spot disappeared...
So I got two chicks as a trade in for a surprise rooster from my chicken lady and she says both are Partridge Rocks. They look so different that I just don't see how thats possible. They are roughly the same age, probably 2/3 days apart and they are just so different. The smaller one with a...
