Thank you everyone. I'm sorry I'm late replying, but I am so thankful for the insights. We moved everyone to their coop and built a small run for now. They are now happy girls and the pecking has been 99% eliminated. I also switched their food and added in some tuna every few days. Everyone...
I'm using Dumor brand chick starter/grower. I've added a little chick grit to it since they are over 4 weeks old and we have given them a little fruit twice.
I have 1 wheaten EE that is bein picked on by the others. I've tried separation for 1-3 days (removing aggressors), blu-kote, increased the size of my brooder box, provided larger food and water bins. They seem like it's so bad they are preventing her from good and water. What do I do? (The pic...
I went to Funky Feathers farm in Beechgrove. It's about half between Nashville and Chattanooga. They were super nice. They have rocks, Ameracaunas, and black Marans right now. No point of lay though, all chicks. Things were clean and well kept.
I noticed 2 of my girls have runny stool. It looks like melted milk chocolate. I've looked closely and no streaks of blood, but worried. They were not vaccinated and I had to order my corid. It's supposed to be in 2 days. They are about 3 weeks old. Is this normal?
(Couldn't get a good photo)
We got off to a late start thanks to super busy work and school activities, but we picked up our girls yesterday! We found the amazing folks at Funky Feathers Farm down near Shelbyville to pick out our flock. My 17 & 15 year old daughters loved picking out the chicks and getting to meet the...
Hey Mid TN folks! I'm happy to be here! I grew up with chickens and happy to be venturing back into keeping them. Can't wait to see pictures and see what everyone else is doing.
I should add he is very calm and loves my girls. They love on him and carry him around. He just goes with it like that's how it's supposed to be. I hate that we have to rehome him. Roosters aren't allowed in Nashville.
Howdy! I'm a wife and mom in Nashville. I grew up raisin chickens, but haven't owned any as an adult. I'm looking to start my own little coop and looking for 3-4 hens. I miss the things my grandad raised me to do and want to share the joy of owning chickens with my kids.
