    What breed could this be?

They're more white I think, it's hard to say because the chicks are all so skittish they run around and hide when I go outside to check on them. I only noticed that it was different from all the rest a couple of days ago, and they're 6 weeks old

    What breed could this be?

I ordered a number of hens from a hatchery and sometimes they throw in a random extra bird. I can't figure out what breed this one might be. It has barred or cuckoo type feathers, single comb, white featherless legs, but it has some longer feathers on its head like its crested. I'm stumped.

    moving chickens outside

Okay good to know that I'm on the right track then with locking them all out today. I did come back to find one outside the run tonight when I went to open the house back up, but it squeezed back through the fence when it saw me so that's not a huge deal, yet. Guess I'll just have to keep at it...

    moving chickens outside

I have a flock of 26 twelve-week-old chickens. I kind of jumped into my whole chicken adventure not realizing how much time everything was going to take. I ordered my chicks before I had a coop, then they outgrew the brooder before I could finish it. Then It took me a few more weeks after I...

    Hello from New Mexico

I'm just starting out (sort of) with my first flock of 26 birds, 25 black australorps and 1 cukoo maran. I've been obsessing with getting chickens for years now and finally convinced my husband into building a coop. I've been using backyardchickens to answer so many of my questions about...
