    Males or females?

Thank you. I can get a better side shot after a while... Here is an action shot of it. It initiates these "stand- offs" all the time.

    Males or females?

Please help! I think we have a mix of both males and females but I'm a newbie. These are 10 week old Easter Eggers - which are boys and which are girls? Also, can you tell me why you think what you think so I can learn. If the white one is a cockerel he'll be our flock's rooster.

    bleeding Chick

Good wishes,Blooie! Need help guys - does anyone think the space under their mama heating pad feels a little too cold? In other words, when you stick your hand in the cave does it feel warm enough? The chicks just arrived and are huddled under the cave together chirping quietly, but when I put...

Brooding chicks in empty coop rather than separate brooding pen

Thanks for the help, all. To clarify: I'm in Montana and it is cold here with the average for our area in February being 33 degrees. The coop will have a small upper window that is able to be opened, closed or partially closed and is reinforced with hardware cloth to keep it safe and secure...

Brooding chicks in empty coop rather than separate brooding pen

I forgot to mention that we plan on keeping the chicks in the "coop box" exclusively at first without access to the run.

Brooding chicks in empty coop rather than separate brooding pen

We will be getting our newly hatched chicks (from a hatchery) in mid February and are making plans for brooding them. We don't have any chickens right now, so we are building a brand new coop and run. We're going to brood outdoor from day 1 and use a heating pad rather than a heat lamp and I'm...
