    I recently had three hens killed as the coop was left open one night and once something went through the screen of the sash window. Last night I had two bears rip open the run and torn off the wire covering the window.

    The rooster is about 20-22 weeks old. The hens started laying in November. The seven of them alternate laying. I've only had seven eggs once. Typically get four a day which I was surprised that they even laid eggs this time of the year. Can you tell after a week by holding them up to a light?

    I agree but they are only confined to that run during inclimate weather. Otherwise they have free run of two and a half acres.
