    I am or what to use a Sylvania infrared heat lamp 250 watts and 120v it is an R40 for a bathroom the package says, I have it at lest 18 inches from the ground and it is over 40C or 100F under the bulb is this normal ??? Help seems way way to hot!

    I candled ,so got rid of those eggs and they are not all the same ,but I had some hatch from all 3 breeds . but most my green eggs did not hatch and my friends buff bantams 1 hatched out out 3 ,so it is not just my eggs . VERY FRUSTRATED !!!!!

    We are hatching duck eggs for the first time ,and the top of the egg as it sits in the turner if very dark on top .This just happened in the last day or so ,the eggs have been in the incubator for about 2 weeks .We did candle them and they looked good . What is this and what should we do ...

    Do you have a roster ? If you do it is where they grab the hens with their becks to hold them down ,maybe he is a little aggessive.

    I have 2 rosters an EE and a Wyandotte I started isotating the Wyandotte from my EE girls, but how long do I have to wait till I know the eggs produced are no long Wyandotte fertilized ? He was very "active" with the girls.

    Thanks for the info ,they were sold to me as Ameraucanas and I payed alot for that as well ,the new ones all look the same as my old ones , all though 4 were white when young and are slowly changing colour, other 2 are motaled brown very pretty. I am holding my breath to see what the others lay.

    Got 6 baby ameraucanas hens in the spring and the first one layed today , but the egg is light beige , are the first eggs beige or she always going to lay beige; and my really worry are all 6 going to lay beige eggs. The one layed is mainly white if that counts for anything. thanks
