Lol pretty much. I have a commercial Hatcher and incubator. I don’t really like hatchery birds and try and stick to breeders who breed healthy birds. I breed for our local feed stores & small farms. I will also rent out space in my incubator for people who don’t have incubators. I have chicks...
Different breeds crown different ways. I breed coturnix and bob whites. We have native quail that are illegal to keep without a permit. You should google it. I love them!!!
those are just the breeds I’ve started hatching this year. I usually hatch 10 months out of the year. I will hatch polish, d’uccles, d’anvers, some more rare marans, blue laced red wyandottes, blue wyandottes, silver laced wyandottes, ducks, turkeys....who’s knows what I’ll add to the line up...
I would love to participate. I’ve already started hatching jubilee orpingtons, americaunas, golden laced wyandottes, frizzel bantams, cuckoo marans, olive egger and some ducks this year. Quail started crowing the last couple days. Can’t wait to start incubating them again.
I thought I had already introduced myself?????? Anyway, I’ll do it again. I have a small farm. I breed chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, Phesants, Quail and peacocks. I hatch 10 months out of the year. We also breed black belly and doll sheep. We grow cows and pigs for butchering. My dad owns a...
I was just about to ask what the difference is because they look so similar. These don’t look anything like my Americauas. I wasn’t sure if both of these birds were the same breed. I know the roosters combs grow faster then the hens. They are still young & this is my first time with these guys.
I have blue americanas and I was thinking they should be called blue as well. When I bought them from tractor supply they said they were lavender whyandotte. Are they both the same breed? The hens comb is almost nonexistent. Idk if it is because they are still young???
when I bought these as chicks I was told they are lavender whyandott. I don’t think they are the same breed. Does anyone know? They have different combs. I know one is a roo and one is a hen.
Thank you so much. I have 4 other hens but she is the only one that can't get out of the pen. She is really big & can't fly. We actually thought she was a tom at first.
I just had someone ask if I would start incubating meat birds. This is new to me so I have a ton of questions.
1. What is the best breed?
2. How long does it take a meat chicken to lay?
3. Is it worth keeping them till they lay to incubate their eggs or just buy them to incubate?
4. Where...
I just started hatching last year. I own 3 incubators one still air little giant, & 2 forced air farm innovators. I started with the little giant. At the time I did not understand the difference between the incubators. After my first hatch I decided to buy another to use one to incubaet and one...
I have eggs in my incubator that I am not quite sure what day they are on. I have a friend that brought a ton of turkey eggs and a few chicken eggs to add to my eggs. So far I have 3 that have hatched and 3 on the way. This egg looked about as far along as the others when I candled it. Now I'm...
My bantam cochin is super sweet and I noticed that she is losing her tail feathers. I think it is the rooster getting at her. He just started breeding and I think he is a little slow. I picked her up to check for mites since it is starting to get warmer here we are starting our seasonal...
Ok, thank you so much! I have 2 incubators now because i have such a demand for babies that my husband hated having to put people on a waiting list and then losing their business to someone else.
I am new to this whole hatching thing. i did my first hatch and I got 14 chicks out of 20....sounds good right??? Well, now I have a batch of turkey eggs and I dont think any are going to hatch :( I think I just had beginners luck.
Now I am wondering about sealing the incubators because they...
I have another incubator which I understand but I just got this 4250 and Im not sure what the wires are that hang down. Should they be attached to something or do they just hang???? Should they not touch the eggs? I get everything else but just confused at the 2 wires that hang down. One looks...
