    What should I use to keep them in place?

    They're called tie cords. Mine are soft bungee type like on a surf board.Very easy to find online.I haven't had to replace mine in years,also they are hooked to a swivel then to a small rod that pushes into the ground. My neighbor just got about 50 off eBay real cheap. Hope this helps.
