ByCers, I hope you can come to my rescue with ideas because I have none.
My boyfriend's sister offloaded these "dog houses" on him a few years back. They've been sitting in his backyard doing nothing except collecting dirt (and cobwebs). He wants them put to use, or gone. I'm certain that...
I'm looking for partridge, buff columbian, dun, or dun laced bantam Wyandottes. Pair or trio. Must be within a half day's drive from central Oklahoma or be willing to ship (I pay shipping of course).
No eggs please, I don't hatch and don't have anyone that will hatch for me!
I'm looking for dun or dun laced Wyandotte bantam pullets. If dun laced, will take a roo/cockerel and a pullet/hen (a pair). If dun, I'd like two pullets.
I live in Oklahoma. Will pay shipping.
I have a trio of MFCs. The cockerel is from TimK (about a year old) , the pullets are from amazondoc and TimK (8 months, 10 months).
I will post pictures tomorrow. They are beautiful and fluffy.
Payment via PayPal, pickup on in central Oklahoma.
The picture is a bit blurry because, well, chicks move a lot ... all I know is the guy at the feed store said it was a pullet (and how does one get those wing bands off? they banded all the pullets).
Anyway:
I couldn't get a pic of the back of it because of my hand being in the way (and no...
I'm looking for Buff Columbian LF eggs, standards not bantams. I'd prefer a LF Buff Columbian/cochin mix, but I can't seem to find that anywhere so it's probably pretty rare.
Has to be standard size, no bantams please.
Well, this is my second attempt at setting eggs. My first attempt had a ton of problems that when combined, ended up in a 0% hatch. I traded in my homemade incubator for a borrowed 1602N hovabator, added a fan to the inside of the 'bator to make it from still air to circulated. I set 4 BCM eggs...
Sorry if this is already answered somewhere else, but the sheer volume of posts made it very difficult to sort through all the threads!
About 6 weeks ago I had 5 black sex linked five week old pullets attacked by my St. Bernard (he literally broke his way into the coop and crushed them by...
I set my first batch of eggs today... 12 pyncheon bantams and 10 silver laced cochins.
I don't have high hopes for this batch because I'm still having some issues with my thermostat.... however, if I didn't set them today, I might as well throw them out. Figured I might as well take a chance.
I've heard on this board about putting the probe end of the thermostat in a pill bottle full of sand in order to tell the temp "inside the egg". Has anybody noticed that their bottle of sand appears to get kinda sticky/wet? Is this normal? Does this affect the reading of the thermometer?
I didn't get around to getting the fan wired into the chick-bator (I had a hard time locating a computer fan that wasn't in use, now I have to scavenge for an adapter, I may end up making a run to Radio Shack or something)... and my silver laced cochin eggs showed up a day earlier than I...
