Pawhut 71" Wooden Backyard Henhouse Chicken Coop Kit

Yes, I plan on moving this unit into our barn. By then, we will have butchered the calves and they can roam around in the pen in there and still have their little coop for security.

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

I found my first egg in the coop this afternoon! It sure was bigger than I expected. Compared with the white one I bought at the grocery store, I am very happy with the size.

Pawhut 71" Wooden Backyard Henhouse Chicken Coop Kit

I am beginning to wonder if chicken math is going to hit me too! This has worked out a lot better than I thought raising my own chickens and the family loves them. Problem is, I would need a bigger garden to expand my flock. ;) I sealed the coat like a person does with a wood deck. It seemed...

Pawhut 71" Wooden Backyard Henhouse Chicken Coop Kit

Why would you want to put the nesting boxes near the ground? All the coops I see have them elevated. I also don't know why you would want to enclose all the sides as the chickens need plenty of air movement, especially during this hot summer we have had. Temps have been up near 100 this year...

Pawhut 71" Wooden Backyard Henhouse Chicken Coop Kit

I love your coop! I think your kit is bigger than mine. I love the color in the picture. But, I am sure it would need alterations of some sort to fit my needs still. I put the coop in my fenced in vegetable garden which is 75 feet by 30 feet. I let the birds free range during the day and keep...

Pawhut 71" Wooden Backyard Henhouse Chicken Coop Kit

I realize that. But, the coop description originally said it would hold 6 to 8 birds, so I thought I was safe. Sigh....

Pawhut 71" Wooden Backyard Henhouse Chicken Coop Kit

Okay, so I felt that I was so inept at constructing a coop from scratch that I bought a cheap kit off of Amazon. I was able to finish it quickly and move it into the garden. The girls love it :), me not so much :(. I was more disappointed with the result than I thought I would be. I did make a...

BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

This is just a video I posted out on my channel. But, you can see that just after having the chicks for a week, they have really grown! They will be ready for their coop in no time! I have added bricks since then to raise their waterer off the ground. It has stayed much cleaner now.

It does depend on the store, but even where I'm at, southwest MN, the manager said he never had so many calls asking when the chicks are coming. I got lucky and ended up stopping by the store to pick up something when they came in. I bought four and the guy behind me bought the rest. Others came...

    Minnesota!

ISA Browns are a hybrid breed not a true chicken breed. The receipt I got said formally known as Gold Star. But they are a hybrid sex link chicken. I had to Google to see what the cross came from but no one seems to know the exact answer.

I'm also questioning if I have a rooster in my mix, but time will tell.

Thanks Lalaland. It was a free clip art I found in a Google search. How many days does it take to acclimate quail? I would think if you open the door they would love to go out and explore.

I like the pool idea. It looks like the chicks have a lot more space to move around then the tote.
