My Hen Laid THREE eggs in one day!!!

I'm assuming she laid 2 one of the days, and that my husband lied last night about checking.

My Hen Laid THREE eggs in one day!!!

Nope! She's in the garage for the winter, and she's housed alone with some babies (babies are just under 1 month old) following a fox attack & surgery in October.

My Hen Laid THREE eggs in one day!!!

I really don't think so. All she has in there is a nesting box liner. The bottom of it is bald paper because she scratched up the hay around it and I've been meaning to buy more.

My Hen Laid THREE eggs in one day!!!

I've been sick with a cold, and have passed my egg collecting duties onto others in the family for the past couple days. 4 days ago my newly-laying RIR, who lays an egg nearly every day, laid a double yolker. The following day she left nothing. Two days ago, I asked my teen daughter to...

    blue copper maran, gender??

This definitely worked out for me, thank you again!! I'm so glad I'll still have a maran. She's got the prettiest feathers. She's the naughtiest one to catch when I need to get them in the pen on short notice. I will miss my BBCE boy--he is a really good boy (for now). Sigh. Very glad you spoke...

    blue copper maran, gender??

Donrae! I am so glad you posted this! I got half of them as hatching ultra-rare fertile eggs from MPC, so I don't think they are mixed breed. However: In the set of four that hatched there were a Black Copper Marans & a Blue Copper Marans, A Blue Birchen Copper Egger, and a Cuckoo Bluebar...

    Black Copper Marans discussion thread

Thank you! I've found a no-kill farm for this one and his blue brother. Such nice boys. I hope I won't regret not keeping a rooster! (too late now--already ordered 2 girls to take their places)

Black Copper Maran Pullet or Roo

Wow. I wonder if mine are growing so fast because they're in a cold climate! Their feathers came in quickly and they are growing like weeds here. I found a woman on a fb group who has a huge kind of refuge for unwanted roos. So I am taking them out there this week. (There's a blue copper maran...

Blue copper maran idk what sex

Hi, looking for Blue Copper Maran experts to sex this 8 week, 2 day old chicken: Those are all the same bird, but the light is worse in the third pic. The neck is lighter grey than the rest of the bird. Thank you

    Black Copper Marans discussion thread

I'm posting all over the place so apologies if you've already seen one of my desperate posts. Does this 8 week, 3 day old Black Copper Maran look like a roo to you? It crowed a little today (quietly- a girly sounding crow) thanks!

    blue copper maran, gender??

Sorry for the thread hijack but I'm trying to hear maran experts' opinion before I unload my blue copper maran for being the wrong sex: This is my 8 week blue copper maran. Is it a boy? And why does it seem so much bigger than the other one in this thread? I hatched it on Saturday June 18...

Black Copper Maran Pullet or Roo

I'm hoping these two copper marans are both girls. They are nearly 9 weeks. What do you think? Here are a couple photos of the black one now. Her name is Verm, and she's always been flighty and nervous. Today was the first day I let my flock of 8 free range, and Verm didn't want to come out of...

I'm so glad you noticed that! We rarely see hawks out here, but there have been some eagles. There are no tall trees around, which makes it a less friendly area for them. I bet they were glad to get out after that! Thank you for all your advice. Kate

Hi! I'm so excited! I have purchased a coop and run. I took advice to go big, and I got some extra bells and whistles that I think will make my coop ownership less of a pain in the neck. This is basically what the coop looks like, though ours will have a galvanized roof: I added an...

You are awesome! The only place I've gone to look so far was in Lyman. I will check those places out!! :) Kate Edited to add: I saw Andy's Agway and nearly stopped.. It didn't look like they had any sheds or other structures from the road. Next time will go in! :)
