Hi, good question! If you are letting, the chicks have grit of some kind. Then feeding small bits of scraps won't hurt them. Not to much ,but just a small treat. I feed mine like that. Of course others may say No. But yes I do. Chicks can eat bits, just not to much. Mine are 6 weeks old.
Ok ill answer this one!!!! Yes they are Asian blue, a new breed. There are not much info on these. But they lay large brown eggs, are very large chickens. Turn out copper heads, some black bodies, some with just black tail feathers. A very pretty bird, colors look black ,green according to the...
Hi , you know, I am I KY, I do not know if your land is clean from animals and ground virus. If you haven't had any animals or birds, I'd say you were very safe, not needing any vaccines. I do not get vaccines, done never. Do not have any problems. I feed medicated chick starter and grower. I...
You will have to train them to their food and water.Put them in the water, food side. They will learn their self to go back and forth. In a few days, they will get it right.Make the hole a little wider also if you can. Good set up by the way.
Ok just try this. crumble up some hotdog or ground beef raw. Really !!!! let them peck that, it will stop the pecking!!! They need some minerals from meat. I do this at times to stop this action. Just try this, make sure all has some. This will not hurt them at all . Learned this trick from an...
Ok here what I'd do for the floor. You can buy cheap, any size blue, green tarps, for 6or 7 dollars at Wal-Mart. Lay this down.Put wood chips down. When getting ready to clean. Pick up the edges. Make a tied bundle carry out dump. Wash off w with hose if needed. Air dry . Lay back down. You can...
Ok, I don't keep all this in stock. But I'd say you have it covered. Who know when you will need something. Being ready is good. So yes you have every thing needed.
These chicks will not eat no more bigger prices then they need. It will just lay there. Might want to rake it up, take a hammer crack it finer. But it's good to go. Won't hurt them
Just do your thing. Ill do mine. And raising chicks is not rocket science. I've farmed my whole life raising cattle, pigs, sheep, chickens, plus working public works so ill say this. You are talking BS. Telling young folks this bunch of crap. Bye now.
I've had chickens, for 55years. Never fed grit. Never had but one sour crop. Saved that one easy. Bagged grit is all money for the rock company. 1 cent of grit, sales for 5.99$ .All profit. Hand full of sand from outside any where. Turn um out in the run. They will kick up their own grit.
Start adding some small amounts of sand or grit for chicks in the feed right on top. I used sand here at home. Clean sand from out doors . No I didn't wash the sand just to ok a hand full and used that a little at a time. It's good for them. Done this first week, then after for 3weeks...
Ok one more thing. 2 percent over is like. A dash extra of protein in a full bag of feed.such a small amount this is. Do what ever you think is right for you. But I'd not be worried.
