She has always liked to make that sound when she sees me, head bobbing and all. This is a completely different sound. It strange, and funny at the same time :)
She has not started laying yet, but I'm sure it will be soon. She has started making a different type of quack, along with her normal loud quack. Almost reminds me of a mini machine gun sound lol. No missing feathers yet. Could it be "just a phase", or does it normally continue from here on out?
Let me preface this by saying I knew ducks would quack before we decided to get them. With that being said I could use some advice on quacking. I have 2 ducks, a peking drake and a female rouen, both about 6 months old. We got them when they were just a few days old. The peking is a pretty quiet...
Hey guys...I have a question. I have my 2 ducks in a dog run and would like to let them out in the backyard with us. Problem is, my little girl can fly from one side to the other. I need to get her wings clipped, but have never done it so am weary of doing it myself. Any tips or places you know...
Hello all. I just noticed my month or so old duckling looks a little bow legged. He is eating and drinking fine. It was suggested for me to put him on a flock raiser to get more niacin. My question is...should I put him on a supplement as well, or just give the new food time? He is a pekin and...
Thinking of your ducks with the tomatoes still makes me laugh today. I want to plant some just for the entertainment ;) here are my guys from today. We just finished the temporary shelter. Used and old dog run with added chicken wire on top for safety. We also laid down some new sod since the...
I can't even imagine having 12! The two I have are enough. I am constantly changing the bedding and filling water. They are too funny though. They aren't much for being handled, but the second they see a banana, you have best friends :) They are pretty quiet, but I can tell when they have made...
So here is an update. I tried cherry tomatoes and they just turned to juice, so I put that in a bowl with some crushed watermelon floating in it...and you would think they hadn't eaten in days! It was a huge hit! I also gave them banana. They are not the most social, but if they see that banana...
Thanks you! I thought I was prepared for these guys, but man they are so much work. It's crazy just how fast they can destroy a clean cage :) I can't wait until our shelter is built so they can go outside during the day. Bath time makes it all worth it though. Cutest thing ever. I love watching...
Hi. I have 2 ducklings that are just over a week old. I am getting conflicting answers from feed stores around here about when to give them grit. I've been told at 2 weeks old, 4 weeks and 6. I would like to start giving them treats (greens and such) but don't want to do this too soon if they...
