    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hadn't thought about it... knowing how my girls have been raised, and the food they've gotten, etcetra, I would really like to find somewhere to process them for me. As I KNOW they're meat should be awesome!! And getting someone else's birds.... well, just don't know what you're getting, right...

So sorry...i've seen several hens & roosters running the alley over the last few days near your house. Never sure WHO they belong to tho. Thought you'd built a run & coop for yours to keep them enclosed & safe, so thought they must be someone else's. So sorry to hear that one was yours. Maybe...

Re the kid...  When my parents used to raise collies, someone once fed one of their dogs bread in which they had hidden poison.  We think the situation was similar...they found a piece of the bread w/the poison in in.

Did you & the witness neighbor talk with the cops yet? So they can do their job & know what to be watching out for?

post your chicken coop pictures here!

Not a great picture, but wanted to show off the 6 hens I FINALLY got in there! (One is on the roof! Hahaha ) Took over 2 hrs to get the girls home, all cooped up in a dog carrier, but they not only survived the trip, but one laid an egg on the way!

Thats awesome to find someone close! I actually FIRST met her last year...Walked By & stopped in....really gave me the "you can do it" attitude that made me decide this year to go for it! Kinda cool....but since she's the one talking about a murderous neighborhood kid.... kinda wish it WASN'T...

Yup...we're neighbors! Let's TRY to identify this kid! If nothing else, maybe the local churches MAY be able to reach out? Prefer to be proactive then wait & react when he grows away from animals & into peopleď

Hon....PLEASE call child welfare & the police about this! Harming, especially killing, small animals is only previews of future killers! This child, obviously, has some MAJOR psychological issues. Is there any chance of you finding & befriending him? Allowing him to apologize & maybe start...

How many "older" ones do you have available? I'd really like to get 6 all at one time

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Like I said, I'm new...I know I'd like to get all brown egg layers, but other than that, I don't know much about the breeds. I'm wanting (and built room) for up to 6 hens. Do any of the ones you have available fit the "brown egg" criteria? If so, I would luv to get together with you...

First Time Chick Parents, Spring 2016

My coop is about 2' above ground.... if I put the babes in it, with the heating pad, will I have to worry about them going down the walkway? Or will they be able to get back up it? Or would I need to close it off until they get bigger?

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I'm new here, on the Eastside of Indianapolis. Got the coop & run built, looking for somewhere to purchase juvenile chickens from (as I have no where to keep the babies)...unless they would be ok in the coop/run now that the weather has gotten warmer?

    Newbie...dumb question

Ken... HAD to build a "protected run", after 1 of our 2 "rescued hens" got taken out by a hawk in the middle of the day that has decided building a nest right across the alley from our house was a good idea! We gave the other rescue to a friend. Now? Now we're prepared! (But trying to figure out...

    Newbie...dumb question

The opening into the coop is on the bottom, rather than the side of the coop. (Built it 2' off the ground to make access to the eggs easier for me with bad knees & back) And we've built the run to be as predator proof as we possibly could, so...since it's free & clear of rain/wind & critters...
