They all come running to me as soon as I step in the pen but if I want to check their feet or anything they take off crying like I am trying to hurt them.
Okay I thought I was doing something to scare them or that they were just anti social. Like if I put food in my hand they go for my hand before the food some times and since they aren't little anymore it doesn't feel very nice.
Is there a reason that only 2 of my chickens will kind of get near me and the rest run from me like I am a Sasquatch. I am slow and gentle with them but they don't want to hve anything to do with me they are 10 weeks old.
Hi everyone it has been a few days since I have been on I am so excited for my first little chicks. I can't wait until they are big enough to go outside. With it being rainy and today being the first day of sun I figure I will hve to wait a little longer before they go out.
Sorry I guess I should have said she was only a couple days old. I got it cleared and she is doing great. Thank you for the insight though. Once they go outside I may de-worm them.
Hi everyone I am new to the BYC and raising chickens but I live in the parkland area. I just got my first chicks yesterday and am so excited.
on another note I am sorry Penny about your mom. My grandmother is going through pretty much the same thing. every couple days we have to remind her...
Thank you again guys I really like the BYC and all it has to offer. I hve learned so much in the last few days about baby chicks and chickens. And there are never dumb questions. Sorry I didn't see it before I would have answered as well
I decided on 2 Rhode Island Reds, Rhode Island White, Ameraucana, Delaware, Gold Sex Link.
The Ameraucana is a little pesky but hopefully she gets to know us and is a little more friendly.
Thank you for the warm welcome. I have been exploring the learning center and I am glad I did there is so much I didn't know about chicks/chickens. I am going to start small I think with 4 and see how it goes. we are only allowed 6 and no Rooster in my city so little hens i think will be awesome...
i am new to the BYC and have never owned chicks or chickens before. I am jumping in head first and can use all the advice and tips as possible. I come from a decent sized family that is trying to become more self sufficient.I love gardening and of course my animals.
