    Delaware Hatching eggs 8+

Quote: Yes, I have Dels from 2 breeders that are all 18 weeks old. I haven't culled my flock yet to get to the best, but I am always looking for new blood to keep genetic diversity. Maybe after your cull we could do a trade? Would you be open to that? Don't know why it logged me in under...

What causes deformed chicks? Breed issue? Parent bird care? Shipping?

Quote: The first chick we hatched like that, we fed and watered about 5-8 times a day (exhuasting!) for about 2-3 weeks. It never got better, so we had to put it out of it's misery. Plus, it was starting to get nippy about being held. I think it didn't like to be forced to stand up. It's...

What causes deformed chicks? Breed issue? Parent bird care? Shipping?

Quote: It was a brand new incubator for the second hatch. I had used the other to death, and with the first of the said hatches comming out with one crippled, I figured to go ahead and get a new incubator. My MO is to use two thermometers for accuracy, a old fashion analog and a digital with...

white "circles" on my rooster's wattle

Quote: THANKS! Just read the tread. I'm hoping we are right and it is pox... just because I would be at a total loss of what else it could be. I know now what I'm doing tomarrow... some serious misquito hunting and trying to get a pic of Elvis up close.

    comb laying down

I have two that just did that. I never thought it was a problem. Hope I'm right. Seriously, though. I wouldn't worry. I might be wrong, but I just see it as a genetic thing. BTW mine is over a year old now and never been a issue - the lopped comb.

white "circles" on my rooster's wattle

Quote: recently, yes. There used to be no problem with either, then in the last few months... lots of rain and now lots of bugs. What do I do?!?! I don't want him to infect the girls, or the other flocks.

Hen attacked by a raccoon - her esophagus may be injured

Have you tried to take scissors to the area and cut some feathers down? Maybe you can see the wound better and get a better idea of what your are dealing with.

white "circles" on my rooster's wattle

Ok. I searched and searched. I can't find exactly what is going on with my boy, Elvis', wattle. There are tiny little white spots that are red in the center. I recently treated for mites with this stuff the feed store told me was safe... "viper" dust. I dusted because the girls haven't laid in...
