McMurray order of Dk. Cornish and Gildn. Pncld. Hamburgs PICK UP ONLY

I have an order of 31 chicks from MM that arrived on Easter Sunday. We got 10 dark cornish males, 5 dark cornish females, 10 hamburg females and 5 hamburg males (plus the free EE chick, most likely a male?) My husband severely injured his back (and subsequently, can't do his carpentry biz and...

    Praise for the Dark Cornish

Thanks for this! I have a small batch of chicks that I just got from McMurray and we are looking forward to them!

    The McMurray Mystery Chick

Ah well. I can always put him over my black copper marans hens and try for some olive eggers down the road.

    The McMurray Mystery Chick

Darn it! I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. Do they EVER send anything besides an EE? LOL:lol:

    The McMurray Mystery Chick

One more picture of him. Between the chicks and my kids running around, getting a good shot was difficult!

    The McMurray Mystery Chick

I am stumped. At first, I thought blue Andalusian, then his face looks so fluffy. He is bigger than both the golden penciled Hamburgs and the Dark Cornish chicks he came with. Any ideas??? Thanks!

    Wasps and Yellow Jackets???

90 percent rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle will kill them within seconds. We keep a bottle on our porch.

TICKS, TICKS, Ticks, every where what can I do

My dad and stepmom had amazing results using Nematodes for the ticks. I priced it for our 4 acres and it would have been over 100.00. If I could have, I would have bought some though. They have dogs that don't need Frontline anymore because of the nematodes. (They eat tick and flea larvae.)...

    Gender Game Time, Second Generation!

The Marans is the only one that I know for sure is a roo. I don't have enough experience with the other breeds.

Well...I know what they ain't! (Pic heavy)

I used to have Golden Penciled Hamburgs and the chicks looked a LOT like that!

    White boxers?

the previous poster is correct. The AKC will register a one-legged GREEN boxer with no eyes if its parents were AKC registered. Being registered has absolutely nothing to do with quality. Being bred by a breeder that strives to reduce/eliminate health problems through screening, only breeding...

    What breeds am I???(dog)

What an interesting combo. She's gonna be HUGE! (And I totally skimmed over the picture with the bullmastiff! Oops!)

The Cutest Picture Ever!!! Name Ideas Anyone???

Does she have a registered name you can use to give me some ideas? (I had a dog that had Fire N Ice in its name and we called her Chillie for the ice part.) They are such water dogs I can't help but think of water related names like: Buoy (boo-ee) Skipper Matey She is adorable and you are...

    What breeds am I???(dog)

Yeah, my dad has a plott and yours is very similar. The wide muzzle screams some sort of bully breed though. If they don't have pits up your way is it possible that people are still keeping staffordshire terriers or bullmastiffs? Or, maybe its just beagle/plott from some big-boned backgrounds.

Am i the only one who thinks this is way too inhumane?

Oh this reminds me of the time I tried to "humanely" kill a sick fish that belonged to my then boyfriend. I was home alone that weekend for some reason, the fish was freaking me out the way it was all sick in the tank, he told me to freeze it so that is what I tried. Unfortunately, I...

Anyone dealt with a cat that sprays?

I have heard that Feliway (a pheromone that is calming) works but it is pricey. Our one male cat had issues with marking and he spends the vast majority of his awake time outside. We are all happier. His lifespan may be shorter from being an outside cat but if he peed on one more silk pillow...

    Our newest addition....Hawk!

He probably is having loose stool because of the change in diet. Although, some dogs can't handle certain meats...pork really does a number on our dogs and we avoid it. I used to feed raw and after a year of trying every recipe under the sun...I finally gave up with one of my dogs. He just...

    What's your favorite dog breed?

Belgian Malinois...so far. I have two rescues right now. When my kids are older (right now they are 2, 4 and 5) I want one that would be suitable to train for tracking.

Trade-off in fertility for show quality?

That's interesting. I wonder what the combs look like on the hatchery versions.

Trade-off in fertility for show quality?

Thanks everyone. I am not going to show them. I think I will probably Craigslist them and get some hens that pull their weight around here instead. It is interesting that breeding for the SOP can lead to infertility. I used to show dogs and I always thought the breeds that required AI and...
