Hi,
I just had a Bourbon red turkey hatch and it can walk and get around more or less fine, but it seems to be a bit wobbly when walking. I also haven't watched it feed or drink on it's own, even though I have watched it peck at my hand. I have given it some water by putting a bit of water on...
Hi,
I was thinking of maybe getting some fertile Rhea eggs and hatching them. I have a garden which is a few acres and was thinking of letting them roam freely around it. However, I am not sure if they will ruin my garden completely by eating vegetables and flowers. Most of my garden has hedges...
Hi,
I have 6 Jersey Giant eggs in my incubator at the moment. It is day 24 and none of them have shown any signs of hatching - no rolling, no pips. I know Jersey Giants can take longer to hatch than most chickens because they are so large, but 24 days still seems a bit long. I am starting to...
I agree. Leave the eggs until at least day 7 until being sure (knowing me, I would probably leave them until day 9 or 10). They don't look like much is happening, but you never know. Good Luck!

I usually leave them in the incubator to fluff up and put a very shallow pot of water so that it can't drown in there and food and once they have fluffed up I take them into a brooder.
Hi,
I usually have my humidity level at around 55% until 3 days before hatch where I make it roughly 65%. I have had humidity drops to around 40% and mine haven't died and so I doubt it would kill them, especially as it is only day 9. I have hatched Quail and currently have some Jersey Giant...
Hi,
I have had quail pip before and then take another 24 hours to hatch. Never had it with chickens, but when I have hatched chickens before they have been hatched under a broody hen. Currently I have 6 Jersey Giant eggs in the incubator. I think this is probably nothing to worry about. As long...
Hi,
I had this happen yesterday with one of my newly hatched quail chicks. I asked here on BackYard Chickens and someone replied saying that I should try putting it in a cup for short amounts of time, but frequently, so that it has to stand up. You can look at the thread on my profile.
I hope...
Hi,
I am new to BackYard Chickens. Yesterday and today, lots of baby quail have been hatching in my incubator (this is my first time incubating them. Currently 7 have hatched. I have about another 7 due to hatch, with one currently hatching. All the quail chicks have been very energetic and...
