ugh how to stop a dog from digging

We have a 5 month old Anatolian Shepard puppy that is a really good dog.........except she loves to dig in my flower bed. I have put up a border fence but she just goes over it when the mood strikes. She has plenty of other space to dig. How do I keep her out of the flowers?

    What is killing my birds?

I have something hitting my flock in the late afternoon/early evening while it is still daylight. We have lost 1-3 chickens in a single day. 1/2 of them have been beheaded, some of the heads are totally missing but some are still laying there. Any thoughts? We have set live traps and the only...

    my babies

Ok, so I had one EE hen that hatched out 3 blue slate turkey eggs. I put this mama hen and her babies in a smaller pen by themselves. Then I had to help 6 eggs hatch under another EE hen. Out of the 6 that I helped, only 2 made it.I tried to put this hen and her babies with the others but the...

    broody hen and turkey eggs

I am seriously considering getting some turkey eggs and put under one of my broody hens. I have standard cochins so having a broody hen at any given time spring-summer is a given. Anybody let a chicken hatch turkeys?

    Cackle's Fry Pan Special

We are wanting to do meat birds for the first time and don't really want to do the cornish Xs. We were leaning toward the Fry Pan Special which is all cockerels of Heavy Breed Chicks ( Heritage male poultry). The site does not give any indication of the length of time it takes to get to...

    packing peanuts

When my daughter ordered bantams this spring, we got 8 packing peanuts. These ended up to be pullets, not roos so we are keeping them but have no clue about the breed. I apologize about the pics, they didn't want to stand still and pose for me. OK, I have no clue why these pics won't show...

    dogs and nasty habits

My Italian Greyhounds have ONE nasty habit. They love to get in the cat box and eat the "kitty treats" We do not have any place to keep the cat box where the dogs can't get into it. (we used to be able to keep it in the pantry with a baby gate) Tractor Supply has a product that you are...

    thoughts on heat and chicks

We got 14 chicks the first week of July. It has been 100+ degrees for most of this time. I have my brooder box in the garage, there is a small fan that kind of blows over the top of the box for air circulation and we have the windows open as well as the side door. We have made sure they have...

    kind of sad

I had 2 extra cochin roos so I took them to be processed today. I made a point to not interact with them much as I knew they were going to freezer camp, but I am a little sad anyway:( This is why I won't process my own birds, I know I will never be able to eat them if I do the dirty work.

    2 week old cutie

This is Tiny, not the most original name, but I don't name most of my chickens. It is a 2 week old Blue Wheaten Ameracauna. As you can tell by the name, Tiny is about half the size of the other chicks and has been this way since the beginning. Hoping she is not a roo as I don't want to cull her.

    2 week old possible Roo

This is a lemon blue cochin, at 2 weeks, it is the only one out of 14 that is getting such a prominent comb. I plan on keeping one roo, but hope to not have to send too many to freezer camp. What do you think? roo??

baby chicks and hot weather ??

I have chicks coming this week. My brooder box is in the garage. Do they really need a heat lamp when it's 90+ outside and in the garage? We leave the side door and a window open for ventilation. I realize they may need the lamp at night when it drops to 70. Any thoughts here. I have...
