A friend of mine gave me a male button quail recently. He spent his first two days calling for his ex-cage mates, and since then he's calmed a lot. He still calls though.
I've been having a terrible time finding him a hen or two! I'm in Beaverton, OR - and the nearest breeder is almost an hour...
My two Buttons are doing wonderfully. They've finally started making more noise- including both crowing their "Weep weep weep" cry. Today, however, they've gotten even noisier! I can hear them peeping and talking to each other, which I never could before. The male has been making his...
I can't seem to find a high enough protein feed- 20% was the highest I've found - in small enough quantities. Two little Button Quail aren't going to eat a 50lb bag of feed before it goes bad, and that is ALL I've seen.

Or even just a couple birds...
I'd love to hatch a few Buttons, being as they're all I've space for. Coturnix, from what I've read, are too big and ... smelly
I could keep a couple Buttons from what I've read, but I keep seeing people selling 25, 50... or more eggs at once. WAY too many! I...
I got up this morning already stressed. I'm trying to get my four year old to eat more then just PB&J, Grilled cheese, and Macroni and Cheese. Oh and crackers, chips, and junk food. Yesterday we started it, and it went badly. He is a very stubborn little boy On top of that, my husband has a...
Well, I got really interested in chickens a couple years back. Lived with my mother who actually had room for them- but the regulations in Willamina are a bit odd. We moved a little over a year ago anyways, and Salem doesn't (yet) allow back yard chickens. I haven't got a yard anyways LOL I hate...
