Beware of Rat Snakes **GRAPHIC IMAGES**

How do you get the snake out? Found one hiding in the rafters of my coop last night. Even if I wanted to, we aren’t allowed to kill nonvenomous snakes where I live. How can I keep it from coming back?

    Rats and a snake

We’ve had a bit of a rat/mice problem in our chicken coop for the last couple months. Can’t seem to get rid off them for good. Last night when my husband went out to lock them up he found a huge black snake curled in the rafters of the coop, where the girls sleep at night. Is the snake there for...

    Funny looking egg yolk

I’ve never seen a yolk with one weird orange spot on it; usually the whole yolk is uniformly darker or lighter. Also some of the orange now seems to be floating away in the egg whites around the yolk. What is this and is it still safe to eat? Is it possibly blood in the yolk?

    A Farm In Georgia

I know it’s been almost 2 years since this post, but I am wondering if you’d be interested in taking a Buff Orpington rooster? He was supposed to be a girl. I am not allowed to keep a rooster where I live in Buford; I don’t meet the land requirement

22 week old Buff Orpington rooster needs a new home. Gender error where we bought him. Going to miss my “Ginger”. Buford, Georgia Can add pictures if interested

    Need to re-home a rooster

So we just learned that one of our Buff Orpington girls is not a girl. 😣 Where I live there are certain requirements to owning roosters; specifically needing to live on 10 acres of land and we only live on one. So my Ginger needs a new home (as well as a new name. Lol). He will be 22 weeks on...

    Can chicks eat this?

My chicks are 3 weeks old. When can I start giving them the mealworms? And are live ones or dried best? Are there any other treats they can have at this point? Thanks.

Can I give them squash and zucchini? If yes, should I cook it first or give it to them raw?

    Gooey eggs?

Thanks, sumi! It does help. My girls have just started laying so that is probably why. This morning we found an egg that was only half gooey

     Gooey eggs?

Yes. One (or two, we can't tell) out of 5 pullets the same age had been laying for about 2 weeks and then we saw another actually lay the shell-less egg. Then we got another gooey egg the next morning and I assume it was a different pullet. This morning we found one that had half a shell, so I...

    Gooey eggs?

I had 2 pullets lay gooey eggs today. The shells weren't hard at all. Could this be because maybe they didn't eat enough of their layer feed with the calcium?
