Jacksonville said they really don't care unless there is a problem with neighbors, but he suggested no roosters, noting that roosters are not needed for eggs. (Since he offered that on his own, I figure that misconception is still out there).
We didn't have an issue going overbudget, but it was exhaustively planned and executed. We used a sturdy wood fence for support on the backside and to block some of the sound from our neighbors on that side.

Any thoughts on mosquitos? I heard that our area has test chickens that they draw blood to check for mosquito carried diseases (like West nile) to smple for the human population .... not a lot of humans volunteering for random blood draws.
Tee hee hee ... after telling the children that the chickies were fine outside, and NO we weren't going to go check on them, Hubs and I snuck out at 9:30 to see how they were doing.
We were week and after losing one last year, are a little paranoid about losing one this year.
Could you rig a temporary pen in the area you want decimated? I find my chickens bruttaly maul just about any plant. If they don't like it, they just rip it apart and leave it for dead.
Hmm. We are in Florida and we were concerned keeping them any longer in the garage would over heat them. So they are out at 3 weeks ... well, 4 weeks. But, I don't know that we have any roaming coyotes ... just a declawed tailless cat from next door.
