Announcement Advertising Updates - Premium Feather Membership - PFM

X2! I understand that we can buy a PFM and get rid of ads, but I figure the businesses that buy ad space would rather we didn’t :D But on this page alone, there are only 5 posts, but 3 ads. (Two being identical, I may add). Going back a few pages, it looks like 3 ads on every page? Is there...

    Completely covered run?

Depending on where you locate it in your yard, it will likely still get some sun. Mine are all open air, but the tops are covered with metal roofing. the morning sun hits one side, and the evening sun gets the other side.

Down to the last few days, new questions arise!

Got a shoe box? Cut a couple small holes in the shoe box and set a kill trap inside. Tape the box closed so momma can’t get snapped accidentally. Dead rat.

21 week buffs are they girls?

You would think they wouldn’t keep us guessing this long!

21 week buffs are they girls?

At 21 weeks, they would likely have a lot more male feathering, I thought. And being so red, pullets usually get that way a week or two before they start laying. Plus 20+ weeks is about average for laying, so. Hopefully you will know for sure very soon.

1st fertilized bantam eggs. What to expect?

A lot depends on your weather, temperatures, and how much she gets off or stays on the nest. Incubator bantams may hatch a day or so early, but broodies usually regulate them very well. My bantam cochins are wonderful mommas. But broody as all get out!

    HELP MY FLOCK IS GONE!

Has your dog ever attacked a chicken before? How long did the dog have alone with them? 7 week old chicks are not tiny. And 5 of them, I have to think if the dog got ahold of them, you would find a bunch of feather, at least. Have you given them any treats yet? Mine know the sound of the...

Chick pipped wrong end of egg

that small a spot doesn't usually need anything, but like Lazy suggested, betadine is fine. I sometimes dab a bit of Vaseline or Neosporin if its a little larger, or if i feel like it, lol! Main thing is to not let it get yucky with feed or too wet, etc. Once the baby is up and moving around...

Great! :clap Can't see her belly, is it all absorbed?

Chick pipped wrong end of egg

If the one that pipped the wrong end actually started zipping and stopped, I'd continue the zip around the egg for it. Don't pull the chick out, but see if it will push out on its own. how pointy is the egg? many times, wrong end pippers do fine on their own, but sometimes they just get too...

Elevated coop with heavy "stoneplate" roof , will this hold ??

attaching the walls first may help steady the whole thing so that it will support the roof. :hu

    AC and some mixed breeds.

Sorry you are having troubles. Some egg shells are different and require slight differences in incubation techniques. Darker shells with thicker blooms may require less humidity, lighter shells and more porous shells can handle a little more. Time of year, heating/cooling/ changes in humidity...
