Hello all. A weird week for the chickens.... Had 1 day where a little puller go into the coop a poke holes in ALL the eggs! Luckily never happened again... Then another day I heard crowing coming from the hen house and all my Roos were outside. So after about 20 minutes of sitting in there I...

Any chance these eggs will pip?

Just wanted to update this. The morning after asking on whether or not there was still a chance we had a massive power outage that lasted through the afternoon. Needless to say I gave up any remaining hope for the 6 eggs. It took much creativity just to keep my hatchling chick warm! I have 3...

Don't know what breed or gender you have? Click here!

This is my other bird I have in question. I know it is a Sultan about 15 weeks, but still don't know the gender as this is a new breed for me and it's not like any of my other birds. The red just started coming in the comb and wattles within the last week or so. ANY thoughts on pullet or roo?

Don't know what breed or gender you have? Click here!

A bantam breed approximately 14 weeks old. Assumed and satisfied it's a pullet but still don't know the breed. I've been told it looks like lots of breeds but mist common suggestions were Japanese or Wyandotte but I just don't know. Any thoughts? Sorry about no great pics, it's a super fast...

    Roost

Definitely lots of reasons why they may not be and sometimes chickens just need someone to show them what to do. If they are young sometimes that just want the comfort of laying together in a pile and not side by side. Some of my older birds are just stubborn so after me placing them on the...

EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Out of curiosity I'm wondering what everyone does with eggs that never hatch? I had 6 that developed but never pipped. My daughter said we should throw them out, but I was thinking maybe of burying them in the garden for fertilizer. Anyone have any thoughts on this or other suggestions?

In Colorado 13 week old EE bantam cockerel needs a home

During chick days at my local Tractor Supply I adopted any chicks that started to "fly" out of the stock tanks which this little guy was doing at 3 weeks. He was in a assorted bantam tank. I have only 3 other bantams, which he does spend time with and they roost together at night, but he will...

Thanks Margie. Sadly no pipping today so we are at somewhere between 36 - 48 hours since the 3rd egg hatched so I think it's safe to say 3 out of 9 is what the final count will be..... Something I'm curious about and would like input from any of you willing to give it. Is there such a thing...

What kind of chickens did I hatch?

As over looked over posts I realized that even though I knew hatching my eggs I would be creating "mutt" chickens I learned that by having specific breeds certain things would be a given. So I would like to know what if anything I can expect from my chicks. Of 6 eggs, 3 hatched and all 3 chicks...

Any chance these eggs will pip?

Hello everyone, I just incubated some of my chickens eggs for the 1st time in my daughters classroom. Of 9 eggs 3 pipped and hatched in the last 36 hours. The 3 moved the other eggs all over the incubator. Today due to weather I forced to take the incubator with the remaining eggs home. The...
