It might have been. I read a few words, quit eating my late supper, scrolled down to here, focused on the TV long enough to keep the first half down, and later returned to a now cold tenderloin that I no longer seemed very hungry for. Think I'll skip a page or two and start reading from where...
I quit selling eggs, and started buying my eating eggs in Dec. Taste terrible, but cheaper than producing my own. Giving very serious thought to buying some Hyline Leghorns and running them with my Ameraucana cockerals.
It took awhille to catch up tonight.
Been a pretty good day, got some things said [about an opinion of mine] on another thread without getting mysel banned , went outside to discover I needed a winter hat and gloves today , and gathered "the egg" as I fed and watered. "The egg" meant that...
I'm sure not everyone that loves games are breeding them for illegal purposes. I love game dogs, still have one that I know will hang on to anything, no matter how much punishment he absortbs, untill he's physically broken off of it. I do wish he could be outed with a verbal command, he's...
Congrats on the educational scores. I can't seem to figure out the new format here, not too blessed with computer and internet skills, and probably at the point of fitting in the "old dogs can't be taught new tricks" category.
My post does read as judgmental, and I apologize for that. If it's wrong or illegal, I've probably done it; and though I've been changed, certainly no saint today. My intent is to get all mention of breeding for game cleaned from this thread. There is no longer a way to contact the moderators...
Sadly, I confess I know too much about breeding "game" into a breed from my own past. However, I'm always willing to learn, so perhaps you or somone else can explain why any breed of chicken needs this trait, and just how do you test your breeding stock for it? .
I would like to see this thread continue, because these breeds are beautiful to look at and do have a value.............................. though neither their aggressive nature towards each other nor their gameness supports that value. You, and several other people on here, seem to be
implying...
There is nothing in the SOP that calls for gameness. Would you consider a male Shamo with superior conformation ''junk" if it wasn't so hard to care for due to it's "special needs"?
If you're anything like me, the final deciscion will be made on St Patty's day.
I'm really hoping to have only my own bird's eggs in there, but we'll see.
I bought a place and moved, and now living in an area where buffalo flies shouldn't be a problem if this turns out to be another wet spring. Lots to do now that I own my own acreage, including building chicken pens, and I'm slow getting things done; hence less time to spend here.
ETA: I guess...
