    Blind chick

I was recently working somewhere that sells chicks, so they get shipments of hatchery birds in. I noticed one chick standing alone and looking confused so I brought her into the back of the store. I ended up bringing her home so I could care for her thinking she may just be dehydrated or injured...

    Hen doesn’t look right, help!

I have an Easter Egger that’s 2-3 years old. I believe she has bad genetics as I got about a handful of eggs from her when she was almost a year old and then quit laying all together. I kept her since she was part of my original flock. I have a rooster that mates with her (against her will, she...

    Olive egger rooster needs Home

I have two roosters who have been living peacefully together. Today they got into it and my one roo was pretty badly injured. Time to find a home for one of them, or he’s off to the cooking pot! He is an olive egger rooster, and he’s not really aggressive but I only have 8 hens with the two...

Why doesn't my hen lay eggs?

I have 8 hens, all of them except 1 lays eggs. Production drops in winter as expected, however I have an easter egger that never laid consistently. I would get maybe 1-2 eggs per week for about 4 months when she was just starting to lay at about 6-7 months old. That was last fall 2016. After...

What breed or mixes is my cockerel?

He’s a little over 4 months old. Bought some hatching eggs for my broody I believe he’s some kind of mix breed. I don’t think he’s barred rock because he hatched from a blue egg. Any ideas??

    Pullet or cockerel?

I have 3 month old chicks. One I know is a cockerel because he’s crowing, but I have another I’m not sure if it’s a cockerel or a pullet. I think it’s a cockerel, but my husband is swearing it’s a pullet. What do you think?! I uploaded one photo with the cockerel next to the one in question...

    Clear egg yolk?

So I've gotten two eggs by the same chicken that look like this. She just started laying, and this was the result of her first two eggs. I know there is a meat spot in there, but why is the yolk clear?? Anyone have any idea?

Hen going to lay her first egg?

I have 3 Rhode Island red's and 2 Easter eggers. 2 reds are laying and 1 ee. I went out this morning to check on the girls. And it looks like the 3rd red might lay an egg. Her feathers by her vent are all pushed open and she's "pulsing" and haven't seen her poop. I've been watching her all...

    What chickens are laying?

Hi! New here to the community! I have 3 Rhode Island red's and 2 EE's. Just started getting eggs a few weeks ago. I know at least 1 Rhode Island is laying because the eggs are brown. But I'm wondering if chickens egg colors are always specific to the hen. For example, most of my eggs are a solid...
