I've got a splash maran that is about 30 or 31 weeks old that is still not laying. It is possible that about 4 weeks ago she laid one sort of smooshy egg with a soft shell, then another a week or so later. No eggs that we can tell from her. All of the other chickens we got at the same time have...
Okay, thanks for the advice. I'll definitely put that on my to do list. I currently have 6. They aren't fully grown adults yet (6-8 weeks) and their coop is nearly finished being built.
Thank you for the advice. It's a bit hard because they are on the back side of the wall, so they are on another street, but we will definitely try to be friendly!
What do you think is best, telling them now before we put the coop in place, or stopping by after it's there with a little letter...
Hello everyone!
I'm going round in circles on the internet here trying to find the governmental page that has the actual laws and ordinances. I've found plenty of other sources but for some reason the governmental page has been so difficult for me to find, and I've found it before! I just...
Ok I see what you all are saying. And if I'm going by comb color alone, then it seems like of my 5 chicks, just one is female. AND I got three of them from a place that sexes its chicks :( what are the chances that all three of those sexed chicks are male? Is that just incredibly unlucky? That's...
Ok so this is the info I found in another thread in case anyone was wondering:

Oh ok! Sorry I'm new so I don't know much besides what I get online. I guess I'm referring to the start of those feathers growing. They have feathers already in those spots so I don't know what to call them. As for the "ridge", I don't know the proper term, but I read in some forums that the...
Thank you so much, everybody, for your input! It's been so helpful. I'll keep watching them over the next few weeks to see what becomes of everyone and I'll definitely post more photos. I have a blog where I wrote a bit more and also had some more photos in case you were curious or wanted some...
Okay, I see what you're saying. Man, now I am maybe questioning if another chick I have is a male. Everything about the chick is female: demeanor, appearance, etc. but her comb is pretty pink. Really small and not at all raised, just pink.
Here she is with the Aussie. She's a golden laced...
Would the smaller EE being crossed with a Phoenix make any difference for that, especially with the coloring and all? I agree though that it seems like a male, just reeeeally hoping for a female
I'm not positive how old the Aussie is but she is at least 5 weeks old and up to 7 weeks old. Yeah it's hard as well because he comb is big but not SUPER pink. Definitely more pink than my only for sure girl.
Hi everyone! I'm brand new to this community and to backyard chickens in general. I got some chicks from a place where they are sexed but now it seems like they are roosters. I only have 5 and I am afraid 3 might be roosters. What do you think?
