The chicks were notin contact with contaminated bedding, they stay inside with me, and they were the ONLY poultry I have that had mites. I have gotten rid of them and currently do not have a problem but YES they came with mites. Also, nothing is impossible.
I have just received an order of 25 jersey giants and 30 cornish chickens from meyer hatchery the other day and not even half of them survived... almost all except 5 where alive upon arrival and now most are dead, the ones that are alive are happily eating and drinking...

I live in Northern Michigan and I just put out 13 Lavender Orpingtons that are 2.5 months old as well... I just checked on them... It's 10:34PM... there is wet snow coming down and its around 30 degrees outside, and they are all together in a group sleeping and do not seem to be destressed...

I want to add some runner ducks to my flock but I am worried they can interbreed with my Cayuga ducks? Which would be a problem for me because I want to keep them all pure of breed.
