    WIND! well that happened

I was in the same windstorm as KyCoop. My less than a year old coop stayed in one piece. Hallelujah! My free range hens spent last Friday in the late afternoon and early evening running from Point A to Point B, etc. They couldn’t find a location in the yard where they felt safe. It was a crazy...

How much do you charge per dozen? And location

In Central Ky., I charge $5 per dozen for my free range “daughters’” eggs in my backyard. Used to charge $4, but hen feed went up 50%. My customers don’t mind the $1 per dozen. Another big cost ppl aren’t discussing is the high cost of raising chicks. We raised two week old chicks last spring...

10 year old "retired" hen laying again after 3 years

I have a very old EE too, possibly older than 10 years. I call her BG (Beautiful Girl). She is a very large girl. In the past six years, she would give me about two eggs per year, but surprised me last fall when she gave me about two weeks of green eggs daily. My pit bull almost killed her about...

Selling eggs- people not paying for eggs

I advertise my eggs for sale on the app called Nextdoor. I give out my mobile cell number. When potential customers contact me, I have them come to my front door to get the eggs. I keep record of their name and cell number. Next time I have an over abundance of eggs, I text all my past...

I’ve seen Sav-a-Chick, but didn’t know it was for adult hens. Thx! Currently, it is in mid 90s here. I feel sorry for my hens!

    Electrolytes

I need recommendations for hen electrolytes. Plz name your recommendations’ brand name and title. Also, my hens were daily eating wild bird feed for several weeks in July. It would drop on the ground as wild bird ate and my hens crowded around to eat it. I noticed unfortunately that my hens...

    Sickly hen

Thx. I’ve never given a sick hen egg. She received water and egg hourly today. She is much weaker today. She tries to sit up, but is too weak to stand. When I put her to bed around 9 pm, she was still alive. She amazes me! She’s a fighter! I’ll let you know tomorrow morning if she is still alive.

    Sickly hen

I have a sickly hen who is drinking, but not eating the hen food. All my hens are unrestricted in my backyard, so she must be getting nourishment from stuff that’s on the ground. She is underweight. She has been acting sick for four days, so I’m amazed she is still alive. She is able to walk...

    questions about selling eggs

I do the same in my address book on my phone Sera. When I have dozens of extra eggs, I text my egg customers already in my phone address book. It is a quick, easy way to sell my eggs. I charge $4 per dozen.

    Kentucky people

I’m in Lexington and have 9 hens. I’ve had hens nearly 10 years and luckily live in a neighborhood that allows me to have hens. Some Lexington neighborhood associations don’t allow hens. I hear from my neighbors that there are foxes close by, but so far, no foxes have attacked my free range hens. 🤞
