All he did was teach the dog a "leave it" command. He got the dog's attention away from the poo with the sound, then reinforced the dog for looking at him and not eating the poo with banana as a treat. Teaching "leave it" is definitely a long process and a very involved one. I don't...
There is a product called "Icky Poo" that you can feed your dog. It's a tasteless white powder that, once digested, makes their poo taste really gross, so they stop eating it. I know he's not eating his own poo, I just thought it might work if you feed it to the birds. Not sure if this woud be...
My sister had a pet rat that was the coolest ever. Her name was CJ. She would take CJ into town with her (riding her bike!) and that rat would ride on her shoulder or in the sleeve of her sweatshirt. The rat chewed a hole in the lid of the terrarium and lived (free-ranged) in my sister's room...
Funny story!
I'm always amazed by people who don't want to touch a snake. I guess I can understand if they are afraid, but snakes just feel SO neat! I have a good story, too!
We had a ball python at the Aquarium, the most docile, easy-going snake EVER. Well, he's one of our education snakes...
Oooooh, exciting! I thought he was going to be bigger. Thank goodness he isn't, that size is still somewhat managable, though they can still do some horrible damage if they get ya.
Good job!
All three of mine are rescues.
Barley (basenji-corgi mix)
Brodie (pittie mix)
Brooklyn (purebred Australian shepherd)
All three in front of "the Mansion"

I posted a link so that others aren't startled by the spiders, I know some people really can't handle them. So, click if you would like to view my collection of photos.

Wow, definitely a huge difference. The other ones colors are striking in comparison.
How many snakes do you have total? Do you have non-venomous ones? And do you have any other reptiles?

What cool snakes!! Thanks for sharing the pics!
You wouldn't have to go far here to find a spider like that. These are what I have in my HOUSE!
I love all animals, but I freak when I see a spider. I never kill them, Im always running and climbing up something to escape them. Or...
Oh, neat. I'm really familiar with local/southeastern snakes as well as exotics, but you got me there!
Looking at the picture, I did notice that the bands were different, but I was stuck on the species we have here.
How frustrating! I live in West Ashley, but outside city limits (in CHARLESTON county), when I called last year, they told me, "sure you can get chickens, just talk to your neighbors first if you plan on getting roosters. And make sure they're not in the street. Have fun!"
Big difference, huh...

It is a copperhead. Are you from Charleston? If so wrong area.
I am indeed from Charleston. We have them all over down here, they are the most common venomous snake I see here, besides cottonmouths. We have two subspecies, the Southern and Northern copperheads. Do you have a subspecies...

Can't wait. What could it be?
I worked for several years at the SC Aquarium as an educator. We never handled venomous snakes, of course, but I've definitely made it my mission in life to convince people that snakes are not demons out to eat you alive! Two months ago I went on a...
My three pups posing for a birthday card we made for my FIL. From left to right: Barley, Brodie and Brooklyn.
I have so many more, but it's late and I don't have the patience to load them up to Photobucket. Maybe tomorrow.
