I wasn't sure where to post this. I have 2 sheds that sit about 6-8 inches off the ground. When regular chickens (not bantam) are fully grown, will they attempt to go under the shed and will they be successful? We also have a fence that ranges from on the ground to probably 6 inches off. Will...
@aart @centrarchid the chickens will each have probably have around 10 square feet or more in the run. The run will be permanent and will have double doors so the coop can be moved out. The chickens will have 4-5 sq ft each in the coop. When they are let out of the of the run to free range they...
@folly'splace @centrarchid @mizjones @aart So I will be making a large coop and run, and the coop will be movable! We already have a 6ft high fence and we have a shed that is about a foot above ground. While I understand that cats are hunters, I may be wrong but I don't see this cat as a threat...
So i don't have chickens yet but when i do, i need to make sure that they will stay in our yard and not go under our sheds. I need some sort of barrier that the chickens won't pass but domesticated cats can go past. (our neighbors cat is very friendly and loves to visit and have some protection...
There is a coop that I have my heart set on building and I really don't want to settle for anything less than this coop! The only problem is it is a stationary coop and I need to make it mobile, I just don't know how. This is the coop...
@aart the coop has to be moveable so we don't have to deal with permits for building a permanent structure and also for the chickens safety so you can move it into the garage if there is a hurricane or something, or because of neighbors who aren't chicken advocates...
Where I live, you must have a moveable coop. This will be my first time owning chickens so I have zero experience when it comes to building a coop. I need a design to make a well protected (we have a lot of hawks, raccoons, and snakes where I live) coop and run that is also moveable. I am not...
@QueenMisha
Seems great but it says I have to order 3 or more of each type of bird. I meant that I can only have up to 5-6 chick so I need to be able to only order 3+ not like 15 like other hatcheries will make you do. I already know which breeds I would like but I would only be ordering 1...
I can't get really expensive rare ones and I need productive layers. Preferable not white egg layers. Docile, not too broody, not to flighty/nervous. Thanks! :)
i can only get 5-6 chickens and i have been questioning getting a barred plymouth rock. I have heard that if you are getting a small flock and are wanting to get a BR to just get all BRs or else they will be mean to the other chickens. Is that true? Can I just get 1? thanks!
