    Advice on found duck please!

Just an updated pic! She is chilling out on top of the chicken house she slept in last night. I've also put a bigger tray of water with some stones inside to help her get in and out of the steeper sides. Not deep enough to drown in! But more water and width than the little black tray she likes...

    Advice on found duck please!

OMG... I am just sitting in my house and the duck has come indoors and is walking (limping) around my living room. She went inside my silkies pen and came up to where I am sitting looking like she wants to try to fly up to where I am. But is also afraid of me and hisses if I get too close. Very...

    Advice on found duck please!

Thanks for the replies! I live in the UK... not sure if there is rules about keeping ducks? But if she wanted to stay that would be fine. I'm worried about releasing her and having other ducks attack her. But cross one bridge at a time! I'll see if I can get some pics. Its early so will be in...

    Advice on found duck please!

:hmm hi. I am looking for any tips or advice on helping a duck I found two days ago please. I have kept quails, budgies, cocktails, parakeets and currently have a silkie hen. I have rescued pigeons, some successfully, some not so much if cat scratched. I love birds and animals and would try to...

    Rescued bird! Help please!!

Excuse pic of me! Lol. I don't like showing myself usually! Anyways, I put Silvier (as we named her) in the garden this morning and she pecked around as if eating and again seemed so much happier! She wouldn't let us feed her at all today and wouldn't drink water either. Some other birds landed...

    Rescued bird! Help please!!

What if she won't eat?? I thought tomorrow I could put seed down in the garden and see if she eats it when I let her out? If she does then does that mean she is very very unhappy indoors? I'm not sure the best thing to do? Leave her outside but just get her in at night so predators can't get to...

    Rescued bird! Help please!!

Thank you! She is doing well! Mostly. I have been told she is maybe five weeks old? About a week from learning to fly. We have fed her peas and sweetcorn and soaked wild bird seed. I'm just unsure of the next steps? My daughter's want to keep her 'as a pet'. Which would be lovely but I'm not...

    Rescued bird! Help please!!

Hello. I'm in the UK and rescued this bird from a boy hitting it with a stick. Can someone please tell me what type of bird it is? I thought pigeon but it's markings are not like a wood or city pigeon. It's like a stock dove but doesn't have the shiny green patch on neck. It's acting very tame...

My quail seem to want to hatch their eggs! I think!

It's so weird as Coturnix Quail are supposed to be hard to get to brood but my first female hatched her eggs and now the offspring that I incubated seem interested in their eggs too and I feel bad taking the eggs away daily... And the kids are begging me to see if they would hatch their eggs...

    Strange singing over egg!!

One of my quails, Skittles, is a small slightly skittish female who got 'beat up' by the roo she was with but now lives happily with our cuddly tame boy indoors and another female quail (a big fat hen named ChiChi). Anyways Skittles was the last to start laying but she would do the egg song...

My quail still aren't laying eggs

Hi. I was expecting eggs from about 8-9 weeks old but my batch of quails all started laying between 12 and 13 weeks old! Which was about two weeks ago. Now one has stopped. No idea why but getting one egg less than my number of females per day.

    Getting two girls together!!

So strange!!! You were totally right. I just put another female (ChiChi) with Skittles and instantly fine together! Tried Brownie (the original) again but nope she instantly dislikes both ChiChi and Skittles! So she is now back outside in the outside Aviary! The other females are not too...

    Getting two girls together!!

Heya! So, my situation has been getting better. Managed to rehome a few males. I decided to 'reward' my super tame cuddly male Tan by letting him have some females. Originally was going to keep a bachelor pad but didnt work out as they started injuring each other and had to separate them all...

    Cracked Egg

I put masking tape over a tiny chip in the eggshell and it hatched just fine. Outside about a bigger crack though. I think as others said just keep an eye on it and toss at first sign it's not developing right!

Super cute! Our boy quail enjoying cuddles and tickles!

Hopefully the link above works! It is my daughter tickling our soft boy Tan. He seems to adore it and even asked for more when he was standing back upright - pecking my finger to say more everytime I stopped scratching under his chin. I tried my other quails, both male and female but only Tan...

Aghh now my males are getting bloody!!

I am in the UK. There's not any places near me like that. I have placed ads but there is very limited interest in males compared to females. My second aviary i have made a partition so i have two of the males we wanted to keep together but separated. So it's only the other injured male i got to...

Aghh now my males are getting bloody!!

So frustrating! First my female gets hurt by the male who has six females all to himself. She's separated and recovering well but is very skittish! Now in my bachelor pad of males (5 males) one got bloodied on his head and is now separated to heal. Two i managed to get new homes for so that...

My male badly hurt one of my females!

That sounds nice! But i feel sad for my roo (even if he was mean for some reason!) as he does a good job trying to defend his girls and the eggs and have had him this long without issues. I wonder if he could move in with the other males or if having had females for so long he won't adapt to...
