One of my girls has clearly not felt well for the last 3 days. She is the only one of 9 who has florescent green poop. I looked her over real well and the back of her neck almost feels like she has an injury. When I found hardware disease, she has over 1/2 of the symptoms.
Does anyone have...
I leave two waterers in my coop at night time. I have 10 Muscovy's and 3 chickens. I set waters on bricks to elevate a few inches to help keep the water as clean as possible. But, ducks are dirty. Good luck to you.
You could have a lot of chickens comfortably in that size of a coop. I think it depends on your needs. The main thing to remember is the coop needs ventilation. The more chickens the more ventilation. In winter time you do not want condensation build up as it causes lung infections. since...
Anytime you let them free range you risk something happening. I have lost one in four years. My four dogs have been taught to leave the chickens alone. Accidents happen when you have animals, so I work with them all so that when something does happen I don't have to worry about anything...
I took a look at the pictures you had posted and your ladies should be fine. They are designed to be outside. The main things are keep them out of drafts and plenty of ventilation to prevent condensation.
I sure wish my coop was that nice and big.
Yep..... I think you know the answer.
Next thing you know your chickens will end up disappearing into someones pot. And noone will have any idea what happened to them.
Put up a fence or tractor them.
I have chickens and dogs and goats. The "best" way to teach them is to TEACH them! Its no different then teaching them not to pee in the house. Consistancy and with patience.
LOL My dogs would eat the chicken off the other ones collar. Its dead! Dogs eat dead things.
An electric collar can...
As posted earlier they will bark ALL night. Not a good way to keep happy neighbors. Not a good way for you and your family to get a good nights sleep.
I would personally recommend not getting that kind of dog yet. They are guard dogs and free thinkers. You IMO need way more land. And no...
I think it depends on what you want the end result to be.
With that being said, I wanted my dogs and chickens to be able to be in the yard together and me not have to worry or watch every move. I train my dogs and like children the rules are inforced daily and just a part of the daily...
As others have stated a covered run is a must if you want to avoid this problem 100%.
At my last house, it was set up so you could see most of the yard. So, when a hawk was sighted,
out went a rottwieler. As she is like shooting a bullet out the backdoor. The chickens would run to her
for...
I got mine a German Shepherd. Great toy! They love taking her kefir milk away from her when she is eating dinner.
Although, they will do it to all of my dogs. The dogs know, you dont fight over kefir........ someone will loose and eye!
One thing that can help is if you break up the currant flock. With an excisting 4 take out 2 for 3 or 4 days. Then add the new 3 with all the others. That way you kind of have 3 groups. It can be ruthless that is for sure. I know how hard it is to ride it out.
Good Job HIker!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah for you and your chicken. I am a dear friend who is nursing 2 back after her dog and a visiting dog got ahold of hers. Their backs were ripped up pretty good, but they have been doing great for almost 2 weeks now. They can survive amazing injuries. Glad your a...
It is so nice to have 4 dogs who are fine with the chickens. Yes, it took work with them. But, it was well worth it. The rotty took over a year. And was well worth the work.
For my rabbit area I hang an x-mas tree shaped car air freshener in Vanilla Only. I hang them about every 4 feet or so. Then I run my 5 chickens under the rabbits also. Very few flies. If I get flies in the coop, I just put one tree in there. Seems like I need to change them out every 3-4...
I could be wrong but I think the reason "most" people say that is they are bred to put on the wieght and be at butcher size at 6 weeks of age. So, therefor.............. they don't live very long. Hope this answers your question.
