Well, as of yesterday, there is no further sign of infection.

Pulled the black scab away today. I have been applying an antiseptic to the area everyday. It looked smaller today and came off easy. There is some gunk in the area that looks like a bit of hard cheese that I couldn't get out. Applied antiseptic to it and some antibacterial cream.

Eye is doing better. Eyelid is growing back.

The swelling has gone. The part of the eyelid that is missing has started growing back.

Was able to get a better look at the eye. The left portion of the upper eyelid is missing.

Kiddie pools work fine. Must be dumped and refilled at least every other day. Those are Silver Appleyards.

I was hoping to find a local vet that would look at ducks. Just in case I needed to take the little one in. So far, no one local. Was given wildlife rehabilitation center phone numbers as the vets kept telling me the duck is considered wildlife. Problem is, it's a domestic duck breed. Anyway...

Glad you caught the killer. Keep in mind it maybe illegal to trap and release wildlife to a different area. Had a raccoon rip up some bee hives once. It never got a second chance.

I checked the duck out again. No signs of external damage. No cuts, bites, or sores that I could see. Eye was partially closed and looked watery.

Well, the one in the front is female, the one in back is male. In the image posted above. This is a more recent photo. One quacks and the other wucks. They make a mess of their water in 10 minutes. Drake front, duck back.
