I'm happy to report that she has 100% recovered. She was walking better within a couple of days and now runs around flapping her wings like the others. They chase away the big 30lb Tom turkey but are super intimidated by the young 3-4 lb turkeys.
Update: twice now she's gotten up, moved a few steps and sat back down where the grass and clover are better. I'm hoping this means no permanent damage and it's just really achey. Anyone?
I've just spent the last half hour reading other threads, articles, etc about goose leg injuries and I don't quite know what to do still.
Our six week old buff gosling got herself stuck and twisted a leg around. My girlfriend found her and got her loose. She's not wanting to walk now, although...
We take the poults as they hatch since they don't all hatch at the same time.
But I'm wondering if the hen will start laying again once she has no eggs or poults.
Chicken, but yeah, she was placed back on the eggs as soon as the situation was noticed. Apparently moving the recalcitrant turkey Tom was an adventure. I was at work and my better half told me about it. We don't know how long she was off the eggs but hopefully not long.
Longtime reader, first time poster. I have a broody hen sitting on turkey eggs. Her decision, not mine! She's been on them for at least three weeks now but the other night, the Tom turkey decided he wanted her out of the nest. We aren't sure how long she was off the eggs. They're almost at 28...
