    I need your help now!

Eagles will carry off a chicken hawks unless it was a big hawk and/or a small chicken they normally leave the body and pluck it eat what they want and leave the rest. A fox will snatch and run with no signs and it' happens with in seconds.

I'm so sorry to hear that. My Marans are sweet and follow me around like lost puppy's, but I would have to agree that my Doms are the sweetest, and very smart birds. I'm sorry for you loss. I lost one of my good hens Romeo's sister to a hawk few weeks ago. The only good thing is my LGD puppy...

Golden cuckoo maran hen X Buff Orpington roo

Black copper pullet. Golden cuckoo roo, but he might have more red then gold in the hackle. I would think, iv never done that cross I'm just going off genetics. But the roo will be Heterozygous for Barred Bb so he will be dark barred like the hen not the light color barred you see in most...

Hello everyone, I'm new to the site but I have been reading along and I'v learn so much from y'all. I'm going on my 4th year breeding BCM. I have made a lot of progress from where I started, and I'm sure it will take me a life time to get my birds the way I want them. Lol I think that's what...

Golden cuckoo maran hen X Buff Orpington roo

Yes it would still make a sex link because barred is dominate and a sex link treat. A golden cuckoo is a barred base with ER and sex link trait for gold s. Buffs are s and ee. So buff rooster ss, ee. Marans hen ER,B, s. I would think roosters would be barrrd with more gold bleeding through, and...

Any advice? Treated rooster for mites/lice and he still falls over

Wyorop Rock, made a lots of good suggestions as well. It's really hard sometimes to figure out what's going on with out all the information. If you don't have electrolytes. Little Apple cider vinegar mixed with water, can also be used as a electrolyte. It has high levels of sodium and...

Any advice? Treated rooster for mites/lice and he still falls over

I stand corrected if you used agriculture lime. Then that's ok. It's just "calcium carbonate." I was thinking of something else. They used on our fields as a kid. It was nasty stuff. Had to keep cattle off of it till it rained a few times.

Any advice? Treated rooster for mites/lice and he still falls over

I would not do anything else. Old off with treatments. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. Between the worming, Lyme, and permethrin all are poisons. Why they kill mits and worms. He could have neurological damage from to many toxins at once. Lyme is a strong base, especially when it...

poor health farm chicks and what i can do? mixing chicks.....

That is very upsetting to hear. I'm glad that you took them in, but now you are stressed and worried. You can only do your best. Best thing you can do now is clean all their pasty butts, keep them dry and warm I would add a heat source to reduce stress. I would give them electrolytes and...

    Bald eagle!

I lost a roosters early spring to a bald eagle. Swooped down and plucked him from the ground. The eagle was not chasing the crow. The crow was chasing the eagle. Crows hate any bird of prey and will chase and pester it. I have a group of 6 crows that hang out around my farm. I take scrapes to...

Is my girl a Dominique or Barred Rock??

I have Doms, and she looks like a Dom to me. She has a flat wedged comb. Rocks will have small saw tooth comb at that age. She is very cute. I love my Doms. They are my favorite ;).

Had to happen sooner or later....

From my experience. Dogs like to kill for fun, and will leave the chicken intact. Hawks normally leave the bird lay where they kill it and the pluck it and eat the breast and gizzard out. Foxs snatch and run you won't find the chicken just a few feathers. Coons by far are the worst. They are...

    Slow feathering gene?

Yes the K gene for slow feathering is dominant over little k rapid feathering. But it also depends if both birds are your crossing carry the dominant K gene for slow feathering. And whether or not they are heterozygous or homozygous.

    Bloody chicken butt

I think it is part to do with the other chickens picking at her it looks very inflamed more so then infected. Tho I'm sure there might be sum infection. I would clean it well, and use blue lotion spry as the other member suggested to seal it up. I found that a vitamin E cream with tea tree oil...
