    Isa Brown not laying

PS: I did set up a camera but it was outside the nesting box/coop so I got a lot of great pictures of everyone going in and out. I'm going to have to figure out how to put the camera inside the coop. :-) Wish me luck lol

    Isa Brown not laying

I've read this article and it seems to educate on new layers. My Isa has been laying for a year before just stopping. As she appears healthy I will let nature take it course, what ever it shall be. Thanks for all the advise everyone. You all have been very helpful

    Can ducks climb this?

Nice...I really thought keeping the rungs of the ladder open She would not have attempted to climb. Surprise! right? Are there any issues about her deciding to lay in the chickens nesting box? Should I change the ladder to a stronger pitch, one that the chickens can hop up into but too steep for...

    Can ducks climb this?

WOW! To my surprise I found this egg in my chicken coop yesterday. I am sure it's my Muscovy as she was the only missing duck egg from the actual duck nest. Can she climb into this chicken coop? I have alarms set every hour to go investigate. I have had her for 15 months and never seen her climb...

    Isa Brown not laying

Here is a picture of her comb. The 1st is her and the 2nd is another Isa. It doesn't look "that" pale in the picture but IRL it is. Also ---- She is not molting----The rooster liked her very well this past winter and tore her back up. It actually looks a lot better. The rooster is now gone.

    Isa Brown not laying

I was understanding Isa Browns lay regularly up to 2 - 2 1/2 years? (Missing days during molting and few days here and there) She is 15 months old. Her comb has gone pale and shrunk up. I have only been getting 3 eggs for about 2 months. I did check her vent and it is moist and appears healthy...

    Isa Brown not laying

I plan on checking the vents tonight when they are settled in (less stressful for everyone lol). I don't know 100% for sure which chicken it is, or why. I thought, too, of them rotating through each day but odds of only getting 3 eggs every day for 2 months are pretty small. A few days here and...

    Isa Brown not laying

I was reading other forums about "hens ready to lay". I am wondering....3 of the 4 of my girls have bright red large combs and the 4th is pale and almost appears to be shrinking! (I'll get some pictures) Could she be the one? Is that a symptom of something?

    Isa Brown not laying

I have an Isa Brown that is not laying. I am guessing which girl it is, but it's 1 of 4. I am going by watching the other 3 go into the nesting box for about 20 min, then the 4th just go in and out throughout their laying time. I haven’t been able to catch anyone actually laying. Seems when I...

    Eggs in water!

Perfect. I started doing this soon as I found the eggs. I was letting them out into the duck yard at dawn (around 6:30) Now I am sleeping in an extra hour :-)

    Eggs in water!

Sorry such a late post - Thank you, I was going to ask this exact question for the Exact reason. 3 eggs in the pool yesterday and I had just cleaned it last weekend. Then to add to the disappointment, I went to put them away last night, there was an other egg in the water. I would not have known...

    Muscovy Needs a new home

Yes the picture, I believe, shows the red carbuncles. If it shows in the picture? His is twice as large than the one I believe is the female. He is only 16 weeks old so I can only assume it will grow as he does. Both the male and female have light blue/green eyes, depending on how the light hits...

    Muscovy Needs a new home

OK, I really think I got a whole lot of bad information! (Not from here). Just touched base where I bought the ducks and they are now telling me they did not sale "Muscovy" but only Pekin and Khaki Campbell. Pictures of the duck are at the start of the post - I have observed these traits: The...

    Americana - Hen or Rooster?

Not sure on a new name - He has been Amara for so long - we are all stuck on calling him that. It is kinda funny seeing him for sure as a boy even though part of me still wants to say "Oh, she just being bossy" lol

    Muscovy Needs a new home

Any suggestion on how to get rid of him - I have no way of separating him from the girls? (1 Muscovy and 2 Pekins) I don't want to release him the only source of natural source of water is my neighbors pond. I think I might get busted if he shows up there lol
