    Raising Baby Chick-Along

Strange but true: I had to tell HE that we should NOT order more chicks right now! I know. Can't believe (A) that I'm saying no to more of any animal and (B) that it's HE that wants more chicks. I did check around for a giant alien pod. Nope. Must still be him. Still, it's very weird.

Those AC roosters are very tempting, but I'm already working around having one EE roo crop up in my pullet order. Going to try a homemade no crow collar. If that fails, it's freezer camp for the lovely fellow. No point in me adding to the problem. But such pretty shinies!

You will want to consider the humidity if you try this attached to your living space.

I've got my EE roo from the 25 pullets (yup. Roos happen.) Im going to try a collar in him to see if I can keep him quiet enough to avoid freezer camp. Don't need to add to my problems with more males. But that is a handsome boy, and the AC she has are extremely tempting!

All my guests are home, or nearby their home, and safe. They've started the government paperwork and are cleaning up. Three homes will be total losses. One will need major rehab and repair. All are going to try to stay. Gas was hard to find at some places, and prices were up about 20-50...

Things to remember: Do this in a well-ventilated space away from sources of ignition. Cover the animal in swaddling/fabric to keep it dry, warm and dark. MUST be an airtight container. Use more than you think you need, then use more. Then more. Seal tightly and walk away. Don't crack it open to...

We used engine starter spray in an airtight (Tupperware) container for a kitten born with a badly twisted spine. My uncle (veterinarian) suggested it. If you need more details, pm me please.

All my house guests will be gone by tomorrow. The group that left already still has water in two of their three houses, but one is 2 story. Everyone will stay in the dry house, closer to where they all need to be to start repairs and clean up. Total loss of two homes, with at least heavy damage...

The weather people were saying it's likely to be a new precipitation record for the lower 48, and only a hair away from a US record held by Hawaii! That's just crazy!!

Well, the info I saw did say "North American conventional conversions". Wouldn't be surprised to see it was an average of the entirety of NA.

It's a chemical factory type of plant. Doesn't make gasoline or refine oil. It must cool lines to keep the chemicals from expanding rapidly (which is the actual definition of explosion), or leaking and mixing together with potentially unfortunate results. Electricity needed as well as human...

HE's son came back from work this evening low on gas after having been by all his regular fuel stations. Most were out of gas, one had a long line, so he just came home. Y'all be aware, refineries are out of commission for a while. Prices going up, and supplies might get low.
