We had a big surprise this morning, though! We looked in the nest and there were 2 more eggs buried. Moms haven’t sat on the nest for days, but one has pipped and the other is working on it. I can’t believe they’ve made it this far with no mom
She splinted it forward(with bandages and a paper lip), hoping that it would strengthen and grow in a more natural position. I’ll change the splint every few days. Fingers crossed!
He got tangled trying to get through the chicken wire and injured it. Looks like it’s turned backward. It doesn’t seem to hurt and he hops around ok on one foot, but I’d like to help if I can. How do I get him Niacin?
One of our ducklings is lame - his leg drags behind him and he’s having trouble keeping up with the flock. Any ideas for helping him out? Has anyone made a splint for their ducks?
hey everyone, I was away during hatching and my house-sitter got a bit too aggressive trying to help the last duckling hatch. His bottom is bloody - looks like some of his skin was pulled off. Is there anything we can do?
That’s so cool! We got our as young adults and they aren’t very cuddly. They will carefully approach when we have food, but don’t let us pet/hold them. I will definitely try training with our upcoming ducklings!
I am new to raising ducks and have just started finding my first eggs. I have two hens and one Drake. Yesterday, when my daughter went out to get the egg, the drake chased her. Today he attacked her and ran at me as well. He’s always been friendly before the hens were laying. What should I do?
I have 3 young runner ducks and I'm looking for a house that is tall enough for them when they are full-grown. Can you post a pic of your house? What are it's dimensions?
Thanks!
