    cleaning the coop

    I use the deep litter meathod. I clean mine once a year. it is a 5x5 coop and a 5x12 run. about once every three months I add additional pine shavings and sprinkle DE throughout. I have no smell at all. no flies in the summer either. One of the best things is I get free compost.

    Can chickens see well in the dark?

    I really not sure what to do now. I would like to get them back to the routine of no light but I also need to keep the water from freezing. Maybe I should do like was mentioned and put the light on a timer to come on early in the morning and cut off after daylight. Whatcha think?
