My dog caught one of my chickens too. unfortunately I didn't realize it in time and the maggots got to her. She had a huge gash to the side of her. She started to get a moldy wound so i had to dry her after each bath and it was a huge debate wether she was healed enough to leave the wound dry...
When I was little we would go to this park with about a hundred of them (with a playground right next to the pound. It was so cool because on the side there is this rock formation and the ducks go in the holes to nest so you could walk on the rocks and watch them hatch.
We would also bring...
Some apartment complex hire people to go around and kill all the ducks their, even the 1 day old ducklings. There have been multiple stories of people seeing others go around with a hammer and WHACK!
Yes it is not fair to the animals just to kill them and that's it. You are allowed to kill them if their on your property. But I would never just kill them. I would try to use every bit of them (like eat them, their meat) so at least their life doesn't go to waste.
They are meat birds. Some even say their breast meat tastes like sirloin steak. I could go around the neighborhood and collect the birds and give it to a guy that offers $10 a bird each (that would be prue profit). The neighbors would complain though even though its not against the law.
I have a female muscovy duck and if I want her to have babies I need a male. There are plenty of males just living and being a nuisance in my neighborhood. Can I just walk my duck around the block to search for a male and let them do the dirty? How many time would I need to do that? Is it possible?
that's weird but you definitely want to take them off. They don't belong there better for all. If you have the time be very careful and pick them off with tweezers or something
Every now and then a chicken will give a really smelly poop to clean their bowls. But with chicks this young that isn’t the case but it is of course normal. Baby chicks are still getting use to their feed and is nothing to worry about. As for the litter, I add 6-8 inches of bedding and then...
The saddle feathers in front of the tail are long and hang down (no protection like you would have with hens to protect their backsides from males) they have “fancy” saddle feathers. To show off for the ladies
Did you wrap the wound? My story is very similar to yours but my chicken died 2.5 weeks after the injury. She was doing really well and just trying to see what I did wrong. i think its because my mother put on a new cream that made the scab re-soften. Very confused as to why she died. She was...
