What do you think is going on with his eye? Besides the fact that its huge and he's likely blind in that one eye. He's about 5-6 months old now, and has had chronic eye infections since he was a baby. He is a house rooster now and so he stays inside with me most of the time, which really helped...
Starting yesterday one of my buff orpington chickens has started to act lethargic and has a slightly darker comb. Today she still has all of the above symptoms but also she pooped some diarrhea consistency discharge but it was pretty wet and the main part was white and the rest was these small...
Anyone have a neat contraption to clean eggs quickly? I know theres industrial size cleaning machines, and i have my elbow grease and a pot scrubber, but is there anything in between that's reasonable for a 20 chickens? Like a toilet bowl brush connected to a power drill or something...
Her name was Steffi, she had crop problems for about 1.5 years now. She was a real tough cookie for going as long as she did. However, she enjoyed life to its its fullest regardless. I know most non chicken owners wouldn't understand but you all know these girls are more than just chickens...
Looking to rehome my easter egger rooster. Hes about 8 months old at this point. Hes pretty neutral, not overly friendly but not too aggressive either. Town says I cant keep him because of the crowing. If you want him, come pick him up, hes free. Shoot me a message.
I need to use one for my loud roo but dont wanna spend 20 bucks for the one on Amazon so i was just gonna make my own from velcro. People keep saying the rooster just rips it off at best and at worst he can possibly die. What are your experiences using it and is there something you wish you did...
I did some research and it seems like I can but I have to put my address on the carton and say the eggs are ungraded. Is there anything else I should be aware of? I just want to sell them at the end of my driveway every weekend.
My run is on the edge of the forest so the mosquitoes come at all hours of the day. I kinda just deal with it but wondering what some of you guys do about it? I don't wanna buy some expensive propane powered mosquito attractor. Do you think hanging strips of cloth soaked with bug spray would...
They all sleep together at night on the top roost. The way the coop is designed is that there are vents in each corner so maybe the highest ranks sleep closer to them? They dont really bully or otherwise challenge eachother in front of me so its hard to tell.
I purchased one on Amazon because reviews said it would fit a 5 pound chicken and the pictures showed 2 at least 3-4 pound chickens wearing it so i thought it would be ok. I tried it on my 6 pound girl, way too small. Tried it on a 2 pound chicken and even then it wouldn't fit.

He/she came with 4 other chickens who are feathering up nicely, started developing tail feathers and dont have any comb. We purchased them all sexed so i want to believe its a female but it doesn't look like the others. The dark one is the one in question, the other...
I've seen videos of cow farmers that have these big pools of cow poop and it kinda turns into a liquid slurry that they put on the crops. Can this be done the same way with chicken poop? And if so is there anything I should know ahead of time (besides the fact that's its gonna be really stinky...
I posted a while back about a chicken with a rather large crop, im talking grapefruit sized. Its been a couple months since then and its still large but shes still alive. Shes clearly in some sort of discomfort since she constantly tries to shift the contents around. I have been calling around...
Any websites (forums) that you guys recommend for raising cows (cattle) thats similar to BYC? Im looking to do some research on what it would really take to get into farming with low capital.
Or YouTube channels you reccomend on the same subject.
Thanks,

I have 5 2 year old RiR, and 3 almost 1 year old buff orpington. The 5 RiR havent layed since around Oct when they started molting. I thought after they stopped molting (which they seem to have finished) they would start laying again. I only get eggs from the 3 buff orpington chickens. Any...
Shes been doing this extreme sneezing/coughing fit lately. I brought her inside in a dog crate and gave her some vetrx and let her rest to see if it would go away and she mostly stopped doing it. That was about a week ago. Now shes starting to do it again. I thought maybe it was a respiratory...
I bought 4 hens about 6 months ago but only 3 turned out to actually be hens. At first (and I still do) I liked the idea of having a rooster as a novelty as I do not plan to hatch any of the eggs. Well, as all roosters do, he started crowing especially loud at 5:30AM. Unfortunately against my...
Hes about 5 months old now. I introduced him to the flock when he was 1 month old along with 3 other 1 month old hens and thus they got bullied quite a bit because of their size. Well, now hes the same size or bigger than the biggest hens and hes still afraid of them. I attribute this to him...
