They are in my basement not the coop. That’s just a pen I made out of some leftover 2X4s. They are in a room with the furnace so it’s warm in there plus the heat lamp. They seem to have slowed down on pecking it. I’m wondering if there was some sap that they liked the taste of.

My baby chicks are pecking away at a 2X4 used to construct their pen. Is this bad for them and if so suggestions on how to get them to stop. Thanks.
