Thanks, I'm really only wanting to hatch one chick if possible, so only need a couple eggs. I have a broody hen sitting on unfertilized eggs right now, would like her to have one chick to raise.

I have a silkie who is broody for the first time and sitting on three eggs. I'm almost positive they aren't fertilized since she isn't around my rooster except when I put them in the coop together to sleep. Anyway- it's been about eight days, so I tried candling with a flashlight and didnt see...

Need to rehome my cockerel! Anyone need one in Baldwin County, AL? He is a silkie cross, Im not supposed to have chickens so having a rooster is out of the question. Hoping to find a good home for him!

Thank y'all, my plan was to have two silkie hens, but he turned out to be a mixed breed and a cockerel. He has been very tame and sweet up until I guess getting his hormones. My silkie is attached to him, will she go into depression if I separate them?

I've had a silkie pullet and what I think is a RIR cockerel together since they were 2 and 5 weeks, now for about two weeks the cockerel is biting me and now really rough on my silkie pullet. Do I need to get rid of him? They are house chickenss with a co-op inside and I let them roam around...

I only have the cockerel and a white silkie hen. They are house chickenss, lol. I live in a subdivision so I can't have a flock unfortunately, otherwise I'd have a million they are so fun!!!

Thanks! He and my silkie are the first chickens I've ever had so I'm totally clueless. The breeder I got them from has silkies, Orpington and copper marans so maybe a cross between those of some sort!?
