    Hen injured, Help NEEDED!!!!

My buff orpington hen was attacked by a dog at the end of last week and we thought she was okay. I finally caught her today when I noticed her fethers were dirty around her chest and found a large injury there. There is a big wound and what looks like her exposed/open crop. I can see bits of...

Newbie needs help selecting dual purpose breed

I'm in Jackson Co. near Gainesboro. If you are near Madisonville, there must be two Englewoods in TN. I really wish the Black Orpingtons were more available here, but I will likely settle for the Buffs, although I'm still reading up and haven't nailed it down yet. Thanks, Cory

I've looked at the Buckeyes, but the I think the eggs are smaller, and they are much more expensive. This is a factor for me. If I'm wrong about this, please let me know. Cory

Newbie needs help selecting dual purpose breed

Hello, I'm new to raising chickens and looking for a good dual purpose breed that forages well, has a docile reputation, and tends to be broody. I guess we pretty much want a typical flock for meat, eggs, tick control, etc. We live in TN, so it's not extended cold, but it does get down into...
