Does a barred rock and Ameraucana cross lay blue eggs?

I don't see any reply that you did or didn't breed them ... this is what they look like when dad is a barred rock and mom is an Ameraucana... they're barred like dad but have fluffy cheeks like mom and the wide tail like mom. These are my hens. It is hard to tell in the photo their fluffy...

What's the scoop on Duck POOP!?

What's the deal if it is really bright almost neon in color?? I have a 2 week old duckling who's now pooping bright green. He's still in a brooder box, not foraging. On meat maker chicken feed.

    Aggressive Barred Rock Rooster

My barred rock roo is about 6 months old and he has become extremely possessive of my entire flock (17 hens) I had 6 roos all together. 3 were hatched together. Any time my barred sees another roo mounting a hen he rushes over to knock the first one off and mount her himself. I've been forced to...

    Disciplining your birds????

I typically let chickens be chickens because I am not out there 24/7 babysitting them ... I do go out very often to check on them and see what's going on out there and make sure they're not getting in trouble like going around the porch to the neighbors house ... They're very tricky birds ...

    Disciplining your birds????

First, 2 of my ducks I've had since they were hatched and they wont come anywhere near me unless I have food and even then it's only close enough to grab the seeds or food I've tossed. They'll follow me around the yard telling me stories but wont let me near them. If I can trap one in the coop...

    Disciplining your birds????

YES!!! I let them out of their coop in the morning and they flood out mowing each other over to get out haha. And then once they're out it's like they realize oh hey there's our farm mom and they come hopping over to see what goodies I've brought out for breakfast. Or when they come up on the...

    Disciplining your birds????

I have one Roo who can be really nasty and will peck you if you're not watching him. He got me good one day and I gave him a good little boot, he's now like my best friend. It was almost like he needed me to establish I was the one in charge. He doesn't peck anymore. My other Roo would attack my...

Getting Pekin Ducks. I have questions?!

We have two Pekins, their wings are not clipped and they have not attempted to fly away .... HOWEVER mine are not penned, they have free range of 2+ acres and they love it. They do waddle pretty fast for being so short hah. I love them, super friendly. Horrible nesters though. I noticed on my...

Help! Soft feathers possibly being ripped out?

It may also be that my one silkie is very interested in her too, he mates her frequently. Or she may be lower on the pecking order, she has seemed to move towards a new group since we got her she's taken to hanging with my Silkies instead of the majority of the flock she came with. Thank you...

    Best materials for roosts?

We actually used 2x8 flat side up and my birds LOVE it. I have 28 chickens. They can huddle together or they can lay out. My one Roo really loves them, he lays out sideways hah! I also have 2 Roos that insist on sitting on the top ledges of the nesting boxes and watch over the girls. Those are...

    Help! Soft butt feathers missing!

We took on someone else's flock and she sort of looked like this when we first got her a few weeks ago but now it seems to be getting substantially worse ... what could be wrong with my girl? Is this molting or do you think one of her sister hens is attacking her? We have 28 chickens all...

    Alot of rain

-off topic. Sorry... My girls and boys aren't penned in, they're literally free range, if they want to "run away" nothing is stopping them but they apparently like it here :) I don't watch them 24/7 so when I do see something I just monitor it and I have kicked a roo for being nasty. He is...
