My question is: Is it possible she is egg bound? Or is this something that happens after breaking broodiness before she starts laying again. But I'm not sure she was broody to begin with! I don't know if I am missing something.
Info:
I have a 7-8 mo old BO who I thought went broody...
Got it. So she's not sitting on the nest now (I've removed all eggs, even the fake ones). Does this mean it'll be another 3-4 months before I can expect her to lay again, or does that time include her incubating eggs? In other words, since she's no longer trying to hatch some eggs, should I...

That's what I figured. I keep getting asked when I'm going to get more eggs. I'm like "I'm pretty sure soon, but they are all still too young!" I think my older BO starting so strong everyone was all excited (me included). I'm guessing once spring really gets going things will start up...
Hi! I was wondering if I gave a run down of my flock someone can "coach me" on what to expect RE egg laying.
My oldest hen is a 7 or 8 month buff orpington who started laying a month ago. She was doing an egg a day and then suddenly stopped this past week. She looks healthy, not molting, and...
I have an 8 month old buff orpington that laid her first eggs over a week ago. Two eggs in her nesting box and we were so excited. It's been over a week and there have not been any more. I know she's young and she probably needs more time to be regular, but she also free ranges during the...
Thank you for the advice! I don't think he's all that bad. He runs up to me when I come home all the time and just hangs around me, so he's not human aggressive. While he is being a jerk to the adult orpington, most times they run around the yard together and he's fine with her. They roost...
To be honest, he was the least friendly of my first chickens that I brought home! Never aggressive, though, just didn't like to be approached and never took to being touched. So I kept my distance. But I loved to watch him. He would do some funny stuff. I'm pretty attached to all my birds.
LOL you know when I got to the photo part of that sentence, I heard tango music in place of whatever words would go there. LOL
My guy is more like the nice-guy turned abusive ass in a Lifetime special.
I get it is not his fault. I'm not blaming him for his behavior. I just wanted to 1) know if the behavior is normal for rooster/hen relationships because I have no clue and 2) if the rest of my flock is in danger. I can't allow a rooster to harm or kill any of my pullets, regardless of the...
So she will be head down scratching the ground and he will run full speed up behind here and WAM! smacks into the back of her. She squawks and bounces away.
